FA20 oil cap thread size?

Can we buy oil caps that are made for Subie EJ engines? Are they the same thread pitch? Asking since it would open up a ton of choices.

Anyone? Not sure if anyone really knows whether Subaru kept the thread pitch the same.

The short answer to your question is yes. Subaru kept the same thread size and pitch as the EJ motors.

The longer answer to your question is that I would advise you be aware of the thread depth. What I found in the design of our FT86 oil cap is that the thread on the cap needed to be a bit shallower than on the EJ oil fill tubes. The bottom of the threads on our 'Subaru' oil caps were actually bottoming out on the aluminum timing cover instead of allowing the o-ring to make the seal. They actually did seal and worked fine, but it's not an ideal solution. Now, it could be that our 'Subaru' oil caps are just a bit deeper than stock EJ oil caps, but it's not an issue on the EJ motors, so we've never bothered to check.

Hope that helps!

Makes total sense, thanks. Well, I don't want to waste my money so I might just stick with what's made for the FA20...
