Need advice...removing active sub
I'm planning to remove an aftermarter under-seat active/powered subwoofer from one car to install into another car.
Question is...if I unplugged just the active sub only (leaving the cables and wires in the car) will the rest of the vehicles speakers etc still function as normal? |

A bit more detail would help? Which active sub? Which car? What kind of connections? Etc... |

It's a pioneer 8" slim sub which is fitted to a 2013 CRV. I don't know what connections bcoz it was installed by an audio shop.
I was thinking of testing by disconnecting the power from battery source, if everything else works fine that means I should be able to remove it safely. Thoughts? |

Maybe, test, don't guess. Just ensure you don't leave any live wires floating around which could short out.

@Fizz
If you're talking about this guy, it's not an active subwoofer. It's a pre-loaded box. There is an external amplifier. We'd need to know which amp. If it's this one, it's brand spankin' new, expensive, and I thought it was exclusive to Europe. You can safely remove the connectors, but I'd wrap some electrical tape over the power connector. If it's this one, you're in a similar European boat. Connector should pull out and wrap it with electrical tape. Alternatively, you could find the fuse and pull that. Most of the active slim subs use very little power, so yanking it won't do anything.

Thanks guys. Yes it's the same as last picture shown above. I'll make sure all wires get wrapped up nicely.
Update: I managed to remove the sub successfully...with the rest of the stock system all still working perfectly. Thanks guys! Last edited by Fizz; 10-08-2013 at 09:37 PM. |
