Spacers

Anybody in RTR or Stock/Street running spacers or tried them and not running them now?

I've checked a few of the builds posted but haven't seen mention of them.

i use 1/4" spacers on the front with my Kosei wheels (+50 ET) so that
the 245 Hoosiers fit but that is all. when i go to street tires next year
the spacers will not be required.

the extra 1/2" of track width may help a little but it is within the noise...

plus the lug nuts do not screw on the wheel studs enough that i would
trust them on the street. you would need to get longer studs.

not legal for the most part.. 1/4in isn't alot of room to play with. Just buy the correct offset wheel. if its a clearance issue. I agree with EDJ. if you can get at least 5 turns on the lug nut, it should be sufficient.

Well, I'm thinking I need to swap out of the crappy OE studs anyway.... I've stripped 2 (i was setting torque to 95, backed it down to 89).

Spacers are legal in RTR / Stock / Street... just not much... up to 5mm. My AutoX wheel is the 17" Kosei K1-TS.

The Kosei's seem to show more stud than the stock rims... Maybe I just need some open ended nuts instead. Maybe with the closed end nuts I'm causing them to strip? Grasping at straws here. I've had lugs for years with my Cooper & never had this problem.

The OE lugs suck, replace them ASAP.

I've had issues, Simmons has had issues, Holly broke 2 or 3 herself as well. It's not you. They are crap.

What studs are you guys using?

This is why I'm thinking if I replace them, go a bit longer, add a 5mm spacer to get a tad wider stance. Plus the H&R 5mm spacers come with studs. STONE ---> two birds

If the spacer's aren't worth it... I'll just source studs.

I'm on 50mm offset 17" Kosei K1-TS wheels in RTR as well. If I could find a good quality 3mm (or maybe 5mm if there are enough threads left on the studs) lightweight spacer that was lugcentric and hubcentric and wasn't too expensive, I'd give them a try. I've used H&R's in the past on other cars, and was happy with their quality. I'd rather not change studs at this time.

I replaced my studs with ARP 10MM extended studs.

With the stock studs there was a ton of metal shavings during every wheel change.

Blaine, with that stud length what nuts did you end up using? The prices on some of these nuts are crazy for something I'm going to drop on the ground twice an autocross day...

On the studs, I assume you mean the ARP 100-7716

I bought the ARP studs for WRX, they can be found here:

I'm just using Blox aluminum/open ended lugs. They are about $70-80 for a set. Mine look like crap now but they are light and I don't see metal shavings during tire changes with this combo. I am using anti-seize also.

I ran them without spacers for a while but I have 5mm spacers all around now because I moved up to 255 and 17x9 et45 was a little to tight and the wheel was hitting control arm in the front at full lock. Plus I like the freedom of being able to change the offsets with spacers safely. The longer studs make wheel changes much easier.

I would never use spacers due to wheel weight.

Wheel weight? The 5mm spacers weigh a few ounces. Literally like 3oz.
