Bought a used OTF tablet - please help

Hello,

so I bought a used OFT tablet on craiglist, that was "unmarried"

when I showed up to meet him. he plugged in and showed me that the "Read" option was visible, and he plugged into my car showed it worked, and pressed read.

cool.

Here I am, trying to flash my car.

Using my OFT plugged into my car I see that the "Write" option is available, but the "Read" option is now grey which i expected(since we did the read when i met up with him)

When I click ECU info i see my cars Calibration code ZA1JK00C
a long with my correct vin.

Next I went to download a map for ZA1JK00C on the OFT site.

I fired up open flash manager for the first, it connects, and I go to upload the newly downoaded bin for ZA1K00C, and it failed.

At this point, I am in the upload tab of OFM, and I scroll up to see that the Calibration ID and vin displayed do not match my car.

Does this mean the OFT was never unmarried to begin with?
or am I just doing something wrong(hope this is the case)

Also I tried erasing the OFT using OFM via Erase Data, and it says no more tries remaining, please contact support.

Am I screwed? Please help

Edit: I realize I wrote OTF instead of OFT in the title, just frustrated.
Edit2. This is a V1 OFT

YYou can contact oft guys to get the erase counter reset

But you eont be able to erase oft unless you write back stock rom to your car from oft

If you plug oft into your car and the write button is available it usually means vin matches ecu in car

Is your car second hand ?? Its possible ecu has been replaced or its veen tuned with a non standard rom

When you say upload of k00c failed what did ofm say incompatable rom ??

Transfer the stock rom in the dlit marked original from oft to computer and pist the rom here ill check if its actually stock

Okay, I'll reach out to them via the website form.

My car is not second hand, I am the first owner, and have never done ecutek,
or any other ecu flash/modifications before this.

The error I get when attempting to upload the bin is "The file selected is not compliant"

I have attached the assumed original backed up rom as you instructed.

FWIW I am using open Flash manager 1.32.0

You have a K00C on a 2017 but the file you just attached that you are saying you're trying to flash is a B01C... That is to an older car, that will not work.

This is correct. I do have a 2017 brz.

I think you may have misunderstood.
The file I attached in the above post was from OFM, stored as what I believed was the original backup of my stock rom.

I initially was under the impression that it was a rom stock back-up of my car,
(Since I recall doing a read, in front of the guy when he sold it to me) but I'm not feeling so confident anymore.

The actual file I was trying to upload/flash to OFM that gave me the error was "Stg-2-Plus-E85-v4.03-LC-FSS-ZA1JK00C"
(just attached it)

File Type: zip Stg-2-Plus-E85-v4.03-LC-FSS-ZA1JK00C.zip (500.8 KB, 124 views)

I appreciate the help from everyone here so far.

I compiled a list of images(hopefully I didn't go overboard) of my OFT settings and what I see in OFM, hoping it can help.
Still not sure what the culprit is, but do appreciate the guidance/help.
Thank you

Delete all the B01C files in OFM.

Then restart and upload K00C.

Ok

That oft looks seriously corrupted note the corrupted tune names and multiple * characters.

My advise is dont try to alter tune files or upload.

If openflash manager will let you erase it then erase it completly and start again.

You will need to contact oft guys with serial number of oft to get erase counter reset

Someting is wrong here
Looks like the original owner didnt erase oft correctly

Hopefully he has written his stock rom back to oft and just not done the erase part as the erase counter was exceeded.

Your going to need to contact oft with the oft serial number and get them to reset rease counter then erase the oft..

Its still got the other guys rom in oft that why its saying B01C in ofm and the loaded tunes are b01C

Where is says K00C that cause its just reading info from your car which is K00C and your cars vin.

The tune fiel in original slot is a B01C so its 100% not off a 2017 car, maybe the guy read in his rom again by mistake ?

Also the oft screen for the tune slots looks a little corrupted.

I think your only hope is to get erase count reset anc start again. You will only be able to erase if other guy wrote back his stock rom though

What ever you do DONT TRY TO WRITE A B01C ROM TO YOUR CAR, if you do i gusrantee you it wont start untill you write a K00C back and resync the secutiry system and you wont be able to do that with oft.

When the guy put oft on your car and pressed READ did oft read in your rom it should take 3 or4 minutes if not the guy scamned you, read button is always visable but it need to be red in coulour not grey to indicate ready to read

This is very insightful information.
Thanks for going into detail, and explaining that.

and yes, when the guy connected the OFT to my car, the read was visible
in Red, once he pressed it, it did some kind of loading which lasted about 1 minute or so. def not 3-4 minutes.

I will take your advice. I reached out to OFT support, and they responded and will be resetting my erase count tomorrow. So I'll try tomorrow.

I'm really Hoping after the erase counter is reset, I can just perform Erase My data" on OFT via OFM and it will work afterwords.

Just wanted to give an update and say thank you for everyone that replied in this thread.

I was able to successfully erase the data off my OFT using OFM after getting reset credits.
OFM now says to plug into my car to read the stock rom. woot woot!
Looks like the old owner forgot to do that step?

Anyways, I'm happy now. and I am now ready to officially marry the car

Thanks!
