I'd prefer not to drill, but if this was a nice enough piece I would. However, some 3m would be a better idea IMO.

You are getting a page of responses an hour. Might as well start a preorder and let us all get in on the first batch of 100.

Honestly I think it could be way cheaper to make and be much more fuctional if it could just be placed in the 'bin' section of the center console. This is hard to describe but what would hold it in place is this; the underside sinks into the console slightly. Maybe with a felt underside so it fits snuggly. then if you don't want it there or want to use the cup holders you just lift it out and rest it in the back seat.

there would be no need for a locking mechinism, latch, hinges, or that base mounting peice... just a nice armrest that sits in there snugly leaving all the space underneith.

I wish I could... but I'm not a vendor and this isn't my part. I'm just testing this part out for Scion Canada, and posted up here to get some feedback on it for them.

Dear god, that's what I'm missing the most on my GT86, a proper armrest!
Tell that Scion Canada to ship some over to Sweden, hehe!

Also a few suggestions; like some have already mentioned, they would have a lot more people interested if they can implement the following:
  1. a small slot for the power outlet (so wire can thread through for accessories),
  2. a sliding mechanism so the armrest slides back instead of flipping.
  3. a magnet that attaches the base to the console rather than having to drill for installation.

Just my 2 cents, but I would really like to see these on the final product.
All of this, the big deal breaker for me is the passenger not being able to get to a drink easily. I normally ask my female companion hand it to me lol...

1) I have no problem drilling & screwing into the console to install this. I would consider this a permanent installation, and I'd want it to be rigidly installed with strength and integrity. Tape (on that textured plastic surface), magnets, and/or a friction fit in the well just aren't going to cut it.

2) The side opening is fine. That's going to have the most sturdy hinge. A rear-hinging lid would be fragile and wobbly. Something that slides or accomodates drinks is going to be unneccessarily complex and fiddly. Simpler is better.

3) Adding a tiny channel for a power cord to exit would be fine, but that also could be very easily done by the owner himself with a hasp file as well.

In summary -- this design is very close to what is installed in the NB Miata and that works very well. It looks well-thought-out and well-executed as it sits. Go for it, as-is.

And a sliding version wouldn't work with the rear seats folded down
