Mechanic was an idiot. As long as the master piston is able to extend completely, that's all that matters.

I remember it was pretty stiff the first time I did it but didn't really have much issue with it. Try a longer wrench?

***I recommend removal of the assist spring before lowering the clutch pedal. This is to guarantee the master piston is allowed to fully extend.***

Edit: On studying the mechanism more closely, I've realized my above statement is incorrect. It is impossible to adjust the clutch pedal so low the assist spring interferes with pedal return. Leave it in or remove it - totally optional. I corrected a similar statement in another thread but forgot about this post. /edit

Then the most important step is to swap out the slave cylinder. Best 40 bucks you could spend. Save the old one in case you absolutely hate it but I doubt it. Makes the clutch as nice and crisp as the rest of the car.

BTW, props to @Andrew025 for convincing me to yank the spring. I came to understand the mechanism a little bass ackwards but got there nonetheless.

What I don't understand is what is actually closing the gap where the pin is. Is it from holding down on the sensor or lifting the clutch up ?

If it's both then what does holding on to the sensor do & what happen if I don't hold on to it ? I was expecting it to be some sort of button or switch but its just flat plastic.

Also, I don't have a 12mm nut and a rod on top of the gas peddles like where the video shows... My 12mm nut and rod is where the clutch is.. Is my car different ? (2013 GTS 86)

The parts shown in the video are on the opposite side for us in Australia.

Just finished doing this and have the clutch slightly higher than the brake pedal. Shifts have gotten a little smoother, but still gonna pull the spring eventually.

I wasn't able to get the white cap back on, but the pin clip is secure. Does the white cap affect anything?

So I just got this done and found that the recommended height of just below the brake pedal was too short for my tastes. At the end of the day I got it sitting square with the brake pedal.

Something that I noticed is that the pedal feels slightly softer. There is less resistance from the spring. Is this because the spring compresses less with less travel distance or what?

The full range of travel is also obviously shorter, but the combined effect of shorter travel and softer spring makes it feel like I'm pushing the pedal down and it won't come up again. It's a bit unnerving really.

Take your other hand and depress the clutch slightly (just enough to loosen tension on the rod) and wiggle the rod both ways (not just the way you want to turn). However it is a bit slippery (at least mine was) which can make it hard to get a good grip for turning.

You sure you properly loosened the nut on the rod?
