Haha thought that would get some good answers, asked cause I couldn't sleep lastnight and remembered my buddy had this happen to him with a random, he wrenched away and accidentally elbowed her in the face. Needless to say her brother fought him and there were some awesome stories going around.

I'm taking a pneumatics class on Saturdays, and am starting to think about it again. Logic gates through valving. Must be able to do something with dampers...

That said my work with pneumatics didn't include logic gates. It was all vane & nozzles and needle valves to create PID controllers, square root converts, and flow sensors. I'm not sure what a pneumatic logic gate would even look like. Sounds like an interesting course. Increasing damping with position would probably work well with progressive springs, but otherwise I can't think of a good reason for it. Sent from my samstone |

The position valving does come from progressive springs, but from motocross. Linear springs with linkages used for progressive rate increase for the big landings. The packaging was something else I've thought about. Remote valving. The shock body is just a piston, and the valves are mounted to the chassis in blocks, with high flow, dry break quick disconnect fittings and tubing. Would be more for racing, so a shock could effectively be totally revalved in a very short pit stop. Could mount them in the cabin, maybe, for driver adjustments on the fly, too. Things I think of when I'm bored...

Any way we could tie in vacuum assistance like brakes, for certain applications? If high velocity is detected (pressure based?) we could use vacuum to balance it, creating less proportional damping (which is just pressure differential and flow control?) in that case, possibly regressing the normal curve? Hmmm... 5 question marks in one post. Out of my comfort zone knowledge-wise. Heh...

edit: I read the post after the one I quoted.. Trouble breathing sucks. I had pleurisy once and it scared the crap out of me. Every single breath was painful. So I went to the doctor, and then they started running tests to make sure my heart was okay. Thankfully a huge dose of ibuprofen several times a day for several days was the way to fix it, but oh yeah, definitely sucked. Hope you feel better soon. Just get yourself an octopus. I hear they like to eat crabs. Careful with those suction cups though. |
