Info from Toyota brass:
Convertible was not completely ruled out but we were told not to hold our breath. From the tone I would say very unlikely there going to be a convertible.

A fully loaded '12 Si coupe is 2877 where as the last gen hatch was the 8th and it weighed 2600. This is still might be an uneven comparison though.

Convertibles add weight also, they have to add additional support for chassis an the top+mechanism as well

I would love a hatch, or targa top, but it can't compromise the chassis

Yeah, hatch made by ichi is fantastic, but I don't think we will see it, at least not this generation. It would really kill WRX sale if the make one since WRX will go 3 doors coupe?

A lighter and more powerful(less than 2800lb and 250hp) S2000 for 35K sounds like a good deal to me. Not to mention, I have back seats to keep all my craps.

Possibly but he did say that they would be foolish not to consider it, but then talked about weight add, etc. Never say never but didn't make it sound like it would be happening soon.

I think we will see a 270 hp turbo FR-S or BRZ before we ever see a convertible. But we will see a convertible one day.

Next-gen WRX engine swap or similar. They've all but confirmed the next-gen will be FA20 turbo powered. Bellhousings probably wont match, but people will fix that. Or something.

They said the car was designed from the beginning with convertible in mind so support for the chassis shouldn't be an issue.

Honestly I normally hate convertibles but that thing looks pretty good...I mean if it didn't looked riced out with the paint job, over done accents, and the wing.

I want it as a 2 seater...and turbo'd to atleast 270hp. For that I'd pay around 33-36k.

Wow.... Don't see many targa tops these days.... But I'm partial to the hatch. As for weight, it depends on the car... 92-95 Civics are lighter as hatch than coupe or sedan. The hatch design those years are clamshell and the glass is small.

Convertible will probably be cloth... Would be awesome if they offer hardtop cover,Nike S2000.

Ditto.

I wouldn't be opposed to a 2-seater convertible hard top, especially with more power.
