[QUOTE=MatadorRacing_F1;89266]This. Both Seem to have Michelin Primacy as standard tyres. Perhaps the Bridgestone RE86 may be offered as an "option"[QUOTE]

however the aftermarket suspension for the BRZ/GT86/FR-S will be huge. i mean HUGE. you will have plenty of aftermarket to choose from. and if they are indeed parts bin impreza struts/springs/housing, it will be even larger library of parts to choose from because theyre all so exchangeable between the cars. as buyers, this can only mean good things for us. |

Just because they fit doesn't mean you should use impreza coil overs.

obviously not but just the fact that it saves the aftermarket tuners money from building their parts to fit our cars, they could just revalve them and package them with different springs. in the end it just means higher production rate, thus lower costs for consumers.

Someone above mentioned smaller rear sway bar in the BRZ? Where did that fact come from?

It's not a fact, Dave-ROR said it could be as simple as a smaller rear sway. It could be spring rate, it could be damper valving, it could be a slight change in end link position. We won't know the facts until Subaru and Toyota release them... everything else is speculation at this point.

I said depending on the price of the scion rear springs I'd consider swapping them in (until real suspension setups are made for the car). Most likely (unless it's sway bar) the differences won't be published.. at least I don't think I've ever seen an OEM publish spring rates before.

Not a fact, just the most likely culprit in my opinion. Simply put, the way the mags describe the Subaru as apparently having more understeer at the limits of adhesion implies that the Subaru has proportionally less rear roll stiffness than the Toyota. Now, it's possible that Subaru changed the spring rates, either slightly stiffer front or softer rear, but it doesn't make much sense to me. Subaru already has a large variety of swaybars for the impreza rear suspension designed and in inventory. It makes better financial sense to make the change with the swaybars. I really doubt it's a difference in damper rates though, as that would effect transient balance, not steady state balance like the reviews seem to be talking about.

It's nice that it will likely just be a bar or spring change, unlike the geometry change of the mid-model SW20 MR2.
(snow + hooning = stuffing the ass of my Legacy into a curb. Original instigator of my control arm interest. Lesson maybe learned. heh...)
