Worst case scenario, it went past the intake valve and ended up in the cylinder and now it's most likely charred and riding on the cylinder wall, best case scenario: it got caught in the intake manifold and is blocking one of the intake runners. Either way, the intake manifold has to come off at the very least.
But as above said, you should immediately stop whatever you're doing with the car now and have someone who knows what they're doing to take a look. |

To be honest if the car runs fine after sealing the intake system back up, I would not worry about it as any damage has already been done. You could remove the intake manifold but I bet you won't see anything |

i'd get it checked, not worth sacrificing a 29k vehicle. If getting gasket sealer inside of a head can damage a cylinder I can only imagine what tape will do.

Why... You spent nearly $30000 on this car. Spending $30 and not ghettofying it seems like common sense to me. But then again, it's your car. Do what you want.... just throwing in my 2 cents

It may also be entirely possible that the tape simply fell off and is hanging out on the interstate or his skid plate. People have sucked in towels and rags MANY times. Rags usually jam intake valves open, but paper towels seem to just burn up and cause no real harm. If the car runs properly and has good compression in all cylinders I would not worry about it. |

Well, managed to get some stuff out of the way. At the very worst, at this point, I'll just have to put it back together. The only way I can mess something up is if I break it, as I am taking pictures and notes and would probably remember every step I have taken so far anyways. I imagine the only problem I may run into is the intake gaskets not being reusable, in which case I'll just replace them.

They're $30? Oh, well I may consider, but I will definitely not be trying to tape an intake closed again. Another issue is time; I don't want to wait 1.5 weeks for a plug that I can make myself in 30 minutes sacrificing nothing but a little bling.

Go back in time and stop yourself from putting the tape on in the first place.

Well, you were right! Here it is, the whole stinking thing... The whole time, on my damned skidplate. There's nothing in my engine... SOo happy! Must have been warm and sticky when I parked it last night, then dried up and fell off overnight or right when I started it.

Thank you everyone for your help and support! I love it when it's something simple. At least I learned something about the intake manifold today. haha

If you're looking at removing it for a more tidy look then AOK.
But, if it is just the sound tube you are looking at removing then this $1.50 mod is the way to go IMO as it is totally reversible if you want the sound back on the track etc http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30659 No need to even get in the engine bay. It's genius. .
