Don't quite understand the pictures in post 194. Catastrophic failure of manifold and case. Is this failure driving an intake manifold material design change? If so, what caused the short block failure and how does that apply to a manifold redesign?

Thanks for keeping us current with your project.

It was a joke. Blew up the engine due to a melted wastegate line. Pulled the intake mani to closer asses the damage. Since it was off we thought we should upgrade

So just how destroyed are we talking? You guys already got a source for a long block? Or are the heads fine? I heard about this happening from some guys at Vivid and I didn't 100% believe them but after seeing the pic I was a little sad.

Yeah...I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at, but I knew it wasn't good. You shouldn't see the crankshaft when you take off the manifold, LOL!

Do you guys have any more data to share about what happened surrounding the event of failure?
Did the melted wastegate line cause a boost spike I presume? How high did it go, and was the failure caused by detonation etc from the engine reaching parameters that weren't being tuned for or was it something else?
Along with probably everyone else I am curious to be seeing what kind of limits can be found with this platform.
Regardless good work, I enjoyed watching your build.

Im not sure if data loggin was still on after the tune was done. Our tuner hosted the shootout so hes been pretty busy. Once things calm down we will get all that figured out but yes it did overboost and we do assume it was past the limits of the tune/fueling. We were only aiming for 400hp and made that

Shitty. I've seen ruined engine because of a melted/broken/loose/leaking wastgate line
Also some that never got hooked up! People in their home garage.

Well, the only bright side to this is.
The engine failed because of infinite boost.
Not infinite, but all the snail could put out.
Shit happens. This will only make this build better!
Sorry for your losses.

I'm sure this thread is about be viral.
You might start a new one that explains easy before you get...

If it was on, that would be a data goldmine for the community.
