I had a tool box that would slide around in the trunk. Every once and a while it would hit that button, and I couldn't open the trunk. Took everything out of the trunk, let the back seat down.

Now nothing is staying in the car.

Nope, you have to pull the straps back into the trunk to "secure" the trunk.
