Broken Trunk Release?
Simple situation, both my trunk release on my key/in car no longer release the trunk. It doesn't beep like it used to and the only way to get the damned thing open now is to pull down the back seats and crawl over to it to pop it with the emergency release. Anyone have a similar problem? Is it a fuze or a defective piece?
Going in for my free 7500 mile oil/tire rotation soon, so I will address it then, it'd be nice if I could save them the trouble and tell them what to fix before I get there. Those techs tend to take a longer than usual time with my car :eyebulge: :thanks::thanks: ~Craig |
pop the trunk open with your key (there's a key hole by the license plate lights) and check the button on the inside of the trunk on the left side near the tail lights. If that button is pressed in, the power release will not work. just press the button so it releases and the button inside the car and on your key should work again.

lol probably is. i did that once when i first got mine and was like what the fuuuuck then realized i saw some stupid button in the trunk. I have no clue what it's actual purpose is besides getting people confused but yea that button disables the release from both the key and inside the car

It's a valet button so when you hand the keys over to someone they don't go rifling through your trunk while you're away.

yea it's pretty stupid. the only way it's useful ever is if you actually have your valet key on you which most people never do an if you remember to push the button when you get out. 99% of the time it's just the pain in the ass button

The things you learn reading the manual that came with the car. :happy0180: |
They come up with this button when they don't put a lock on the glove compartment. :p

Ha! This happened to me last night. I didn't even know there was a key thing on the trunk. Had to get a flashlight out and look underneath the edge there. :D
