Not really. Early adopters bought a $550 Axleback. This catback is nowhere near $550, and we still need to test a 3" midpipe on the standard axleback, there is a very good chance it will build the same midrange power gains as the full system that is quieter. We initially tested a 2.5" straight midpipe with no gains at all, that's all over in our other threads.
Also remember that most of the reports of people running 3" exhausts on these cars were 'way too loud!', and meanwhile everyone giving us feedback was saying 'I want quiet!' If louder doesn't bother you, then adding a 3" midpipe that tapers down to a 2.5" outlet and makes 6ft lb in the midrange shouldn't be an issue and you'll still be under the price point of a full dual catback if we choose to produce that. We're going to do our best to get the price of that system down if there is interest in it, but either way, it's not cheap. It has four handbuilt mufflers in it and a boatload of tubing. Finally (hope I'm not coming across as negative here or cross - that's not my intention), this is exactly why we haven't released a header yet. We did everything in our power to test as many iterations of what we thought would be reasonable sound level exhaust systems that would build power in our initial exhaust development phase. What we stumbled upon with the higher flow midpipe section of the circuit resulted in an exhaust that we could ship to OZ, but is also a substantially more expensive design. That being said, most of our Australian customers would rather put their money into parts instead of shipping and it all comes out as a wash in the long run for them. For people here in the US, the shipping cost is almost the same, and the parts will cost double, if not more than double for the system. Which is why we would like to test the 3" midpipe with either the track axleback or street axleback for power gains before going any further on either of the designs - to be honest, it's rather astonishing that we were able to pick up midrange with the larger middle circuit when we lost 1ft lb of midrange in testing with a straight pipe out the back and a 2.5" midpipe. Either way, more testing is in the works...our goal has always been to make things forward and backward compatible and we have been successful at that in other development ranges in the past and I have no doubt we will be able to accomplish that in this product line as well. I suppose my next question is, are we looking at a 3" OP/DP, to 3" midpipe, then into the 3" axleback that breaks off into the smaller tubing or am I missing something here?
I'm no engineer, but that sounds like a pretty solid setup. Infact, if that is possible, that is exactly the package I want to buy. |

I have the same original axleback as you. The offset refers to the mufflers where the body of the mufflers is offset to one side or eccentric in relation to the pipe. That changes the frequencies instead of allowing one big one through and results in it being quieter in the lower ranges, more balanced in volume through the range. That's my understanding. |

Why not keep the centre pipe single until just in front of the diff and then have 2 short branches? That way it would still pack up well and have the resonator twice as long so it matches the length and volume of the 2 seperate ones? If it made the same power wouldn't that save weight? If there's any chance of you making a centre pipe in 2.5" or 3", in SS or alloy that matches up to the stock parts but with a decent sized resonator and an option for a helmholtz resonator, then please let me know now. I asked John about sending a me a helmholtz resonator kit that I could get fitted to my downpipe with HF cat while it's still waiting for the RHD overpipe to arrive so it would save me time and money. |

So does this mean you guys are scaling the down pipe to 3" as well? If so, I found my system! The 3" mid resonated to the 3" inlet on the axleback is really awesome. Can't wait till this can be ordered. Goodbye tax refund!

Wow that's a dizzying array of options. Glad to see you back on the board.
So at this point you saw more gain using the 3" midpipe and the Aluminum 2.5" midpipe I'm assuming is mainly for weight savings? |

That Downpipe is really good. I'm not sure Jason said they are doing a 3" Downpipe. If that is the case, I'd hang onto that one.
