Thanks for the input guys. That JBL is kinda what I'm trying to avoid in terms of wanting a somewhat cleaner install and it takes away too much depth. I use more of my trunk than that on a daily basis. Though recently I have considered options of making a box to sit under the rear deck sideways if I can make a shallow one. Need to research dimensions first.

apologize for bumping an old post, but i'm also considering a bazooka tube for my FR-S as an easy, cheap way to add bass. is the consensus that bazooka tubes are generally worth the money and easy to install?

Pass on the bazooka and get the JBL that Joeboxer has, much better product for the money.

I had 2 8inch 250 watt bazookas in my old 2011 Tc. They had plenty of power and just the right amount of low end. Also great cause the amp is built in and they just sat against the side of the trunk so i could still fit things back there including my snowboard down the middle I was quite pleased with them

quick newbie car audio question: if i added a bazooka tube using the FAST harness, will i have to add some sort of crossover/filter for my stock speakers to prevent them from playing any of the bass? really low bass causes my doors to rattle when loud enough, and of course i wouldn't want that if i had an actual subwoofer.

The bazooka will accept hi/lo input to it meaning you can use speaker level or the Preamp off the HU.

I ahve been looking at the Baxooka with the 50watt amp. Just a little low end for my Volcano Red FR-S.

Stock speakers are great and the HU is ok for now. I don't want to drop 300+ on a stealthbox or whatever and thought of the Bazooka tubes. Small, seems easy to remove if needed, and relatively cheap. I am coming from a pair a 12 Sony Xplods running off a Rockford amp and they did a damn good job as far as I'm concerned. With this in mind will the sound disappoint me? I'm looking at getting a 10" this time. TIA.

Hi. I'm like you, I need bass as I listen to rap but I found place.
Next Thursday, they will install 2x subwoofers in the space where you can have a spare wheel which will give 300W which is all I need. It will give a nice surrounding sound system and don't need much more than this.
Perhaps you can do the same.

I am getting this installed tomorrow in my FR-S

I am using the Sub Preamp out on the HU to control the sub as well. This will be plenty of BASS for me. Easy in and easy out of the trunk. I will post more pics after install tomorrow.
