Who needs more torque when you have snow!

Experienced my first snowfall in the FRS today (niagara region) and it was definitely fun. I haven't driven a RWD in the snow since my dads old Suzuki Grand Vitara 2 years ago. Since then everything has been FWD. I forgot how much fun it can be!

No worries, I'm a safe driver, don't drive like a maniac, but it was just a lovely reminder of the wheels propelling the car. I have a good set of winters but with a car so light, they only do so much, especially before they've heated up a bit.

Regardless, not looking to start a war, or critiquing anyone's driving. Just wanted to share my first snow (albeit a very light amount) experience with my FRS.

I had a nice 2.5 hour drive home today, but it was great!! Got to really feel out how the car reacted in the snow and it was very controlled. Better than my previous RWD cars...IS250, Genesis Coupe, G35 Coupe.

First time for me with RWD in the snow today too. Thankfully the winter tires did what I bought them for and bit nicely, so I pretty much only lost traction when I wanted to. Too bad all this southern Ontario snow is going to melt this weekend.

I've felt that need. There was a day 1 or 2 weeks ago that was brutal. I couldn't go faster than 55 without my back starting to go out, and I've got the Hankook I Pikes. I'm hoping that was only an isolated freak incident or that my tires just haven't broken in fully yet.

I had mine at my mom's place a couple weekends ago and had no issues getting up her street. It's not a massive hill, but it's enough that most cars will struggle when there's snow/slush/ice on the roads. It definitely broke them loose a couple times, but it was no worse than my mom's mazda 3 (also on snows).

sorry to derail the thread a bit. i'm just wondering, for those of you driving this car in the snow, did you do rust proof? if so, where?

No snow for me last night....only freezing rain..... so not actually that fun. =(

However, when traction control, stability control and LSD are all working together, the car sure makes a lot of noise!!

I've bought rust check in a can and sprayed that shit on all the things that usually rust out (bolts, suspension component, sway bar end links(IMPORTANT!) etc...) under the car and in the engine comparment.

I have YET to see a car rust on the actual underbody, they rust from inside out so it's pointless in my opinion unless you go with the kind that shoots from the inside out of the panels... even then, it will take 7+ years to get any problem.

EDIT: I had a 2002 civic SI that was rust proofed with that gunky stuff, it was UNREMOVABLE, the entire engine bay looked like shit! It would have taken hours for me to remove all of it, since this, I will rust proof my cars myself.

Had my first significant snow fall last week. Found the car actually good for having not so reputable snow tires. Just starting out in first gear the cars ass wanted to swing out but once you were going I was fine. Talked to my salesman and he told me to try starting out in 2nd gear. I have yet to try it. Krown Rust Proofing @Hwy 7 and McCowan rd

They are awesome and take their time doing the job right.

They will ensure that the car is drenched in rustproofing and even stay late to do a proper job

Drilling holes into areas hidden in the door jams is the only negative, but at least the solution goes where it should!

Two of the best treatments are Krown and Rust Check. I prefer Rust Check, and have been using it on various cars over the last 20ish years. Google either one, and you should find several places in the GTA.
