Embrace

At West Point it was "embrace the suck"
I tell the volleyball players to "embrace adversity"

In the Member Classifieds there are a few of these intakes for sale.
No one wants to buy a used Airaid Intake for $150 including shipping?!?!
I know I've taken it in the teeth with this intake, but the first guy through the wall always gets bloody
Guess I need to "embrace reality".....

Awesome. I've been thinking of doing this myself. I just can't stand the throttle response any longer. I have a brand new car with 1400 miles on it, and it feels like I'm driving my 260k miles 20yr old Celica.

Did a quick eBay search for the aFe intake.. why the crap is it so much?

When you guys refer to "throttle response" are you guys referring to how when you go WOT you get a slight delay in acceleration? Especially, when in the lower ranges of the rev range?

No, not at all. I'm referring to sitting at idle, and blipping the throttle. It's actually embarrassing. When blipping the throttle for a downshift its also very lagged in the lower RPM band, but gets better up higher.

It's a simple tuning issue. That being said I don't think it's super awesome to have to get a $900 tune to get the car running back at stock levels because I installed a $250 aftermarket intakes system.

Ok, fortunately for me I don't have this issue. I'm still on the fence, maybe if I get some free time I'll think about it.

On a side note, has anyone tried running the airaid intake without the lid on? I wonder if that would help at all.

That is the best truthful explanation ever!

I never had any bog or throttle response issues. I ran without a lid for a few tanks because all my screws fell out. It sounded pretty mean but I didn't feel any real difference. It was pretty cold those weeks. Last week I reverted to stock. The car feels kind of gimpy now but it seems stronger at high rpms. I've lost around 2mpg over the last 2 tanks as well but the weather has been fluctuating alot the last month.

It's really strange how different people's experiences have been with this intake. I'm still stock now. I miss the sound and power down low I had with the intake but I'm not going to reinstall. I'm going to put the brz away for the winter anyways so I'll decide while it's sleeping which direction to go with the car. Really hard pressed to say no to the avo turbo kit but I want to see what else comes after sema and over the winter.

Yeah I've had zero issues with my Airaid, with and without tune. [NO BOG PERIOD]
If I did, I would say so and would have removed it for sure.

It just keeps getting better for me, from stock, to STG1 and now STG2 tune

I have no doubt that people are having issues with this intake, but I wonder how many out of all the intakes that were sold

Anyone ?

Having said all that, I will be swapping mine out for another model to match up with my CAT

I just wanted to chime in and say that I am enjoying my new AIRAID intake. I do get bogging if I do the "bogging test", but that is the only time it happens to me. About 1500 miles so far and no issues with it. I got it mainly as a cheap noise maker. And it sounds awesome!

I was really worried because of this thread... but I figured for $200 (after rebate), why not and now I am a satisfied customer. I'm sure that the AIRAID intakes work just fine and it looks like they are doing their best to fix all your issues... but I'm beginning to think that there are just so many other variables that are out of AIRAID's control. Good luck to those with bad bogging issues, I hope it all gets figured out

Note: I do have a new ECU because of that CEL/SL issue everyone's been getting and it's been quite chilly around here.

How are they fixing these issues?

Fixing the issue would be giving refunds or giving the new design of the heat box.

So far it is dissapointing to see a company try to avoid bad PR, while at the same time from what 2forme said them being almost rude about it just because he brought up an issue. If they feel so positive that the review saying it lost whp then how come they havent released a dyno to dis prove them? It shouldnt take this long for them to release a new dyno on the intake if they feel that the review is wrong.

Like he said if people are just giving their 2 cents from butt dynos and no factual evidence then that cant be a source for saying the intake isnt giving negative gains. The person or shop who did the dynos was not trying to make Airaid look bad in any way on purpose. They just wanted to see how the intakes compared and double checked all their work. If you didnt read the thread they even stated that they tested it on another car also.

If they arent the only ones reporting it and other people who have dyno'd it are reporting them same who would you believe? People who are reviewing it with just feel vs people who are doing dynos.

They should release an add on to connect to the front of the part of the intake where the hood scoop would go. Cause it seems like that is the problem. In the review thread or in a thread I saw that the part where to air scoop would of been, that behind it it was an inch or 2 further back then the other intakes.
