nope, he said disconnect the ignition, so
the lock cylinder is actually only there to unlock the the wheel, the key position would do nothing if he ignition is disconnected and retorted to the keyless go system

I wonder how similar this would be to installing remote start? I know most remote start kits have to have a key placed in some sort of module that stays in the car at all times. I don't know much about it but just throwing it out there.

Minus the fact that your accessories including radio, headlights, etc would all still be running.

Your engine might shut off but all that other stuff wouldn't, unless I'm missing something here.

you unplug the loom from the ignition switch. therefore it's dead and does nothing when switched on. it is just there to unlock the column.

to turn the car on you use the push button. (as long as you have the RFID fob around)

Seems simple enough

Yeah. Unless it's a system that does not require a key at all, it's kinda pointless and an additional step.

Finally had time to work on this. I still havent got the power door locks going. I just ordered the iDatalink for the FRS. That should help me out a bit.....

Here is a list of what I installed.

Advanced Keys 104B Push start/Smart Keyless system
BRZ start switch panel
BRZ trunk request switch (love this one!)
The part numbers are in my previous post...

Soon to be iDatalink FRS/BRZ module. This module will take care of my power door lock issue and the imobilizer code and also give me a solid tach signal for the remote start. I tapped into the port injector wire, but it was a little to weak for the Advanced key system input specs. It worked anyway once I programmed the tach input on module. Since the idatalink has a tach output I will probably switch it over.

My review so far? It does what it says..... For now I just leave my key in the ignition in the on position. This is for the imobilizer and steering lock. Later with the iDatalink this wont be needed anymore and i will likely remove the ignition cylinder completely and place the BRZ ign. cyl. cover over the hole.

What is super cool is our cars have a nuetral switch on the manual trans. Remote start is good to go!

Things I don't like?

Holding the start switch down for 2 sec. with the brake pedal pushed to shut down. Still doing research to see if this can be changed to single push shut down.

I will get more videos up once I get the iDatalink installed and working. This is a quick vid I did to show you my progress....

Are the ignition wires at the key lock cylinder disconnected? So if you take a key in there and turn it, will it do nothing?

What do you plan on doing in order to disable the power steering lock?

The steering lock is mechanical and is activated by the lock cyl. I plan on removing the cyl. once my Bypass module comes in. Should be here Friday! I will try to make a better DIY once I confirm it does what i want it to do.
