The worst film was the 4th. It was absolutely ass, more action than a racing movie, more fiction than any of the others.
The strongest film is tokyo drift. Best storyline out of all of them. I cringe at the frs or brz being featured. Last thing I need is a bunch of ugly ass pimply faced ricers trying to race me at every corner. |

Whats funny is the BR-Z guys bought a car to be a little more mature or "grown up" compared to a scion, and now the brz will be the car that all the ricers see on the big screen and try to duplicate....kind of ironic

Regarding the Initial D live action movie, it just didn't "feel" like a movie. The car stunts were cool, but the camera angles made me feel like I was watching Best Motoring more than a car movie. And I hate those stupid commercials at the beginning of the DVD that you can't skip on most players. Quote:

But frankly, you'll have to deal with all that. A car like the FR-S/BRZ is not inaccessible to teens, so it comes with the territory. |

The more the BRZ is marketed in this movie the more potential there is for Subaru to inflate its price. *High five to us early adopters*

I don't think supplies are limited anymore. There are 12 used and 133 new available near me according to autotrader. I think FR-S would make more sense though from a business perspective, F&F seems to fit their target demographic better.

Comparing the first 2 films with the last 3 films is like apples to oranges. The first 2 focus on portraying the import scene (from Hollywood's perspective) where story doesn't matter. Part 2 is like a made-for-TV-movie. The Lin films show a more serious attempt at storyline using cars as a background theme. The first two have a '90s production quality feel whereas Lin's use distinctly 2000s film techniques. Tokyo Drift is a hybrid of the zanyness from the first two and seriousness from the last 2. The last 2 are recyclings of existing heist films. In terms of execution from a film critic's standpoint, I would rank it:
1. Tokyo Drift 2. Fast Five 3. Fast and Furious 4. The Fast and the Furious 5. 2 Fast 2 Furious How I would rank it based on the cars I saw and how they were used in each film: 1. Tokyo Drift 2. The Fast and the Furious 3. Fast Five 4. Fast and Furious 5. 2 Fast 2 Furious How I woud rank the value each film adds to the franchise: 1. The Fast and the Furious 2. Fast and Furious 3. Fast Five 4. Tokyo Drift 5. 2 Fast 2 Furious

I've gotta disagree. People thinking FR-S fits the F&F demographic have their perceptions still stuck on parts 1-3. Parts 4 and 5 have been using more premium/high end hardly modified cars. Part 6 has exotics and many European cars with production for the last 3 months having taken place in Europe. To the general public, the FR-S would seem more out of place in Fast Six (though to me the FR-S and BRZ are still essentially the same car).

Part 5 moved more toward classic and/or muscle cars, though in the director's commentary, they wanted to use modern exotics for the train sequence (like a Mercedes SLR and a few others), but they said it would've increased their budget by too much... not to say that the GT40 isn't awesome. The 911 GT3 was a 996 (not a bad thing, but clearly not the newest thing out there either), while the hypercars like the LFA and CCX weren't really in any sequences worth replaying. |
