lol, no the stock system is pretty subpar. The speakers are so-so, the headunit sound quality is so-so, etc.
Apparently none of you guys that like this system have ever had a good sounding system. That being said, I don't care that much because the car is very fun to drive.

The conectivity of the stock system is good. (USB, Bluetooth, head phone jack) The sound is meh. My 1998 GS400 had a much nicer stock stereo. I think that makes it 15 years older and better. I am going to replace every peice of the stock stereo...
I didn't buy the car for the stereo though.

Drove a customers FRS with the windows down today to pick him up at the airport and I couldn't hear anything. When you turn it up loud enough to hear it over the wind, the distortion is awful. |

I would say that the stock stereo is not for an audiophile, but, comparing stock to stock, the FR-S' stereo is way better than I had in my 2009 Corolla XRS. Has anyone upgraded to the Bon Giovi system that they offer?

Yes this is true. I tend to turn the radio off completely when I am on the freeway with the windows down. Around town I don't have this issue.

I love my radio. I came from an STi and those all sucked! Even my EVO X had a better sound system than the STi.

I really didn't like the stereo.
![]() My FR-S is currently with a custom audio shop installing amp, speakers, new HU, subwoofer and rear-view camera. I'll post some pics when it's all done. |

Stereo is fine with me. Better than other stock units I've heard.

I'm coming from an ILS system in my Acura TL, so this system sounds like I'm listening to everything through a wet blanket.

This is the worse fm tuner I have ever had in a car radio.
Can't pick up alot of the stations that 2006 Mit Eclipse could. |

The road noise on the hwy kills the sound of the stereo and overall it isn't great. It is decent for a generic stock stereo, but that is a low standard. For the price of the bespoke radio upgrade I could make it sound 10 times better.
I had to add a subwoofer just to be able to make it sound good. It is not an audiophile system like I used to have, but adding a sub allows adjusting the sound enough to make the stock stereo and speakers tolerable. |
