What about these from Racing Sparco (Japanese not the seat compay, afaik)? They have a rather unique center section.

Not too familiar with outside North America Lexus models.

Is the manual 200 the 3SGE BEAMS (2.0L inline 4), or a 1GGE (2.0L inline 6)? If it's the BEAMS 3S, go for it. If it's a 1G, go for the auto 2JZ 3.0L instead.

i like the rims, but i'd have to see them with the car i just think there might be to much empty space.

we only got the 1G, acouple of other people have said not to get it aswell, why is that exactly?

It's just a 'meh' engine. I heard that they didn't bring it to the US/Canada because it is pretty gutless, or they didn't feel a 2.0L in a Lexus would sell. The Japanese got the IS as the Toyota Altezza and the last gen super-awesome Yamaha BEAMS engine, but as a Lexus they didn't want to sell it with a 4 cylinder. So Europe, which is more accepting of smaller engined luxury cars got the 1G as the base.

I think I mentioned before that I really don't know too much about it. It's OLD, started in the Mk2 Supra (had a supercharged 1GGZE option). It had a 210 hp twin turbo option in the Mk3 Supra that no one seems to care about. In Japan they used to tear them out of the Mk3 and put in 1JZs so they could get the big power but keep the 2.0L insurance rate.

As far as power, mods, reliability, I don't really know anything. It's an old-gen Toyota motor so I'll assume it's built like a tank. But I haven't heard of much for mods or power.

So if your alternative is an automatic 2JZ... The automatic (which can be easily swapped out for a W58, R154, or V160/161 manual) is a small price to pay for the last, best NA 2JZGE.

It did. But because of the Japanese displacement insurance issue, they made a 'base' model with a 2.0L 1GGTE in addition to the 3.0L 7M cars. When the Mk3 was updated to the newer look (89+ in North America) the JDM cars got the option for the 2.5L 1JZ (more power and lower insurance than the 3.0L 7M). Front crossmembers are different pre and post facelift because of the accomodation for the 1JZ. My car was imported from Japan already swapped. It is an '89 GA70 chassis, but came with a 1JZGTE. (normally this would be a JZA70 chassis) Unlike standard North American Supras mine doesn't have the 'normal' flared fenders. Call it a narrow-body.

So it seems in Japan it was more common to pull the 1GGTE and put in a 1JZGTE rather than mod the 1G.

Probably similar things happened with RB20 powered RWD Skylines being upgraded with RB25s and RB26s.

An altezza isn't really an option is it? Ya can't import them and get compliance here in aus :s

I'd go for the IS300... I've not heard one good thing about the 2lt six in the IS200...

As for wheels, the car is more of a cruiser than a sports car, multi spoke wheels in a dark hue would compliment it's styling much like the stock wheels on an IS-F.

My choice would be SSR Type-F in flat black

or maybe Type-C if ya had bigger brakes to show off

you can check them out at http://www.ssr-wheels.com/wheels/ssr.asp

I'm on my phone so I can't link pics but you can check them out at http://www.ssr-wheels.com/wheels/ssr.asp

i think you can get compliance, hvnt looked that much into it i've seen acouple around, i've not heard anything good either thats why im going towards the 300 but i would like a manual so thats why the altezza has now come into the picture

yea i know its a cruiser but i hate lowered cars with stupid sized rims, to me its ugly, and impractical.

those wheels look good gonna have a huge dilemma when it comes time to choose

Sorry mate, I just had a look here >> http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/sevsindex.htm

If it's not on that list it's not able to be complied and registered

You could however import one for race or rally use only (you can even get restricted rego for road rallies and stuff)... or go live in japan, buy one when you get there and if you own it for 2yrs while your there and then move back permanently you can import it as a "personal import" (that's how my fiance's JDM GT-Four got in before she bought it)

Pitty you can't bring them in, they go for cheap in J land...

I found this AS200 Z EDITION
on J-spec imports for 1,388,000 yen (works out to be $21000 landed in aus) and it's an 02' model!

(it has a lexus badge cause the japs like badge swapping... it's funny to see them cruising in V36/7 skylines with yank infinity badges on em lol)
