The BRZ definitely has trunk lid struts. The instructions don't say much of anything, just show a lot of pictures. The new struts are the first thing you see when opening the box...they are taped to top of the 2nd flap of the box and you see them as soon as you open the first flap.

You could probably get away with not even installing the new struts. (I didn't install mine yet and it's fine). They are just damped a little more to compensate for the extra weight of the wing.

Just a question, why is this called the "BRZ" spoiler. Is it because Subaru is offering it as an option?

The reason I ask is that on some Toyota brochures, it has the same spoiler as well, so is it not a joint thing? (which is also weird, because to my understanding, Toyota doesn't have this spoiler as an option)

Btw, this is imo the best spoiler out.

this spoiler is standard on some oversea spec of the 86/GT86.

whatever the OP calls it i guess isn't that important as long as you know what it is. he likely called it the BRZ spoiler because he bought it at the Subaru dealer.

whatever boot spoiler that fits the BRZ will also fit the 86.

Looks the goods.

Anyone have any info on how functional it is?

Yes, I'm serious.

unless u put it in a wind tunnel, you can only go by what Toyota claims.

apparently with this installed, CoD drops by 0.02.

From what I recall, the spoiler reduces drag by 0.01cd. The JDM underbody panels reduce it another 0.01cd. So a bare bones stripper model has a 0.29cd and a fully loaded model with these aero bits (no body kit) has a 0.27cd. This is the figure that was marketed during product launch.

Thanks guys.

I was actually thinking more about reduced lift than drag.

Supposedly the roof indentation is supposed to channel air directly onto the spoiler for increased downforce. The spoiler winglets seem to line up with the rooflines probably so air stays bunched up in that channel flow.

@coyota skip to 1:15 in this marketing video. There is talk about aerodynamic stabilization without unnecessary downforce.

With all the hyping that's been going on, you'd think they'd have given us info that would make those words unnecessary.

You are indeed a legend.

I prefer boring German style videos that state "Mit da schpoiler ving, it is dis ... unt mitout da ving, it is dat", no crazy beat bunny music and marketing terms.

Because after watching that, we still don't know if the bloody spoiler reduces lift! I'm probably going to get one in the hope it does, but is a couple of little numbers too much to ask for in 2012?
