E85 Fuel Starvation Mod

Hello all,

I made a video to share my fuel starvation mod, hope this helps someone.

Like many of us I experienced pretty bad E85 fuel starvation on track, Verus Fuel door wasn't enough, and I wasn't ready to take the plunge on a surge tank. So I decided to try and look into the lifter pump solution.

While I was researching how to go about this, I couldn't find any write ups or guides like you usually can for just about anything you'd ever want to do to a car, and it slowed me down. So I decided if I was able to get it working I would try and make one to help people out.

This video goes over how I modified my fuel system to greatly reduce fuel starvation while running E85 at the track by installing a secondary fuel pump in the passenger side of the fuel tank.

It was successful but not perfect. I still fuel starve at 1/2 tank. But prior to this, I couldn't even do 5 laps without fuel starving despite going out with a 100% full tank. So for me it was hugely successful and enables me to use E85 when I effectively could not before. Your experience may vary.

I installed the Verus Fuel Door while I was NA and it helped a little bit but once I went FI it wasn't enough. I'm not ready to take the plunge on a surge tank and all that those entail, not to mention the cost. For about $100 and topping off between sessions I am very happy with this solution! I've done 5 track days now with this setup and so far so good. I'll come back and edit this if that changes.

Things I bought:

Submersible Rubber Fuel Hose, 8mm ID for the pump I chose. I got two feet and trimmed a little.

Hose Clamps, (18-0031). You could probably use whatever, but I liked this design

Fuel Pump. I liked this for the low current draw, price, and size. It's also designed for this application.

Feedback and ideas for improvement welcome!
