BRZ orders opened in July last year iirc.

It may be different now, just wanted to give perspective of last year's ordering.

Orders opened on July 24th 2021, 1st US delivery was October 29th 2021.
I ordered August 30th and received the car November 23rd.

Ordered a 23 Premium in WRB on April 26th. Haven't received an ETA yet from my dealer or SoA-- I asked my salesman today about that and I was given a 6-digit number that is not a VON, and that a VON is assigned when the car is allocated. I was also told that SoA does not email customers about vehicle orders. That conflicts with what I've read here. Can someone show an example of the email from SoA confirming their order? I don't really think my dealer is full of it, however I would like to protect my trade value by making sure this car comes in as soon as possible.

This is what I've seen from other manufacturers.

My BMW had a port installed performance package that included a SW tune, different intake, and a couple cosmetic bits. The car actually had an envelope tucked into the front of the manual which documented the work performed, and where it was performed. For that car, it was a location in New Jersey. The car was delivered to the first owner at a dealership in St. Louis.

Rumor has it the processing centers at the ports will do minor paint/cosmetic work to repair any damage the cars might have received while on the ship before loading them on a truck/train to the final destination.

Well shit, didn't work. Give me a site I can upload an image to, and I'll share the email I received last week.

That's just it though. Everybody is relying on information of what "used to" or "usually" happens. NONE of what used to or usually happens applies right now.
There is not a single thing you can do to speed up the process and the only thing you can expect right now is that the unexpected can and will happen.

Since image upload sites aren't cooperating here is the text I got:

Dear XXXXXX,

We’re glad you’ve chosen Subaru as your next vehicle. We’re sending this email to confirm that we received your order from Bob Moore Subaru for your new BRZ, and are working hard to get it to you as soon as possible.

You made a great choice that will be worth the wait, because 96% of Subaru vehicles sold in the last 10 years are still on the road today, more than Honda or Toyota*. You can feel confident that you and your passengers are protected, too, since Subaru has earned more IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards than any other brand since 2013 as of September 2021.

We’ve included your unique Vehicle Order Number in this email. Please reference this number when asking any questions about your order, and use Bob Moore Subaru as your point of contact:

Thank you for sharing, appreciate it. I'll have to bug my dealer again because I have a feeling they may not have actually placed the order or finished it, and that wouldn't surprise me.

UPDATE: Dealer just got back to me with a Sold Order Certification sheet. Shows the order was placed and accepted on 4/26/2022, and the 6-digit number I was given is the SO number (I assume this is Sold Order Number). I guess it is just a waiting game to hear from SoA with a VON-- I was told again that they will not get a VON until the dealer has been allocated the vehicle.

Right-- I just negotiated a window of time my trade value would be honored (through 10/31/22 and under an added 5000 miles on the car), and I'd just like to make sure my dealer actually placed the order promptly.

I'll keep you updated, maybe we should start a '23 order thread?

I have the same exact scenario. I ordered on 1/6/22 and the only thing I got was a 6 digit SO#. I was also suspicious that I got screwed, but my brother ordered one on the same day, and his car came in a week ago! There was no warning, or communication. Just one day "hey, guess what, your car is here!"
The way they explained it to me (and I suspect that you are in a similar situation) is that most dealers go straight to SOA for the order process, but the dealer I chose, as well as many others, use a distributor, or something like that. In other words, they have nothing to do with SOA during the order process. Before I realized that, I called SOA to look for my order, and they had nothing, so I freaked out a little bit, until the salesman explained it to me.
At this point, I'm wondering if I will even get a 2022 or not? I may wind up with a 2023 if too much time goes by. Does anyone know what date the factory decides to change the year of the vehicle?

We are in the same boat with my wife's trade from her Outback to Ascent. We have a 10,000KM grace but delay after delay in the Ascent is starting to push that limit.

Is the official 23 MY preorder started or is it just dealers are taking in orders? I contacted few local dealers, one said they can place orders and expecting delivery of Sept, they have one guy on their list so far. While another dealer mentioned they are still waiting for Subaru to open orders but they do have 5+ pre-orders finalized (few hundred deposit to be charged once they can actually place orders, but not now).

Totally lost, any ideas which one should go after, is there any downside in choosing a "popular" dealer?

We have the same exact experience. My sales kid showed me an sold order certification sheet and a 6digit number. No VON or email from Subaru. I ordered the week of April 19th and was told expected delivery is Nov.
