The 'Frit' is often a problem for tint to stick to, so it lifts and gets air under it, and it doesn't look so nice. Some film manufacturers claim their films are better, and proper prep of the ceramic painted frit is necessary, but in some cases the thickness of the frit (how high they sit above the glass level plays havoc with film installs.

The darker the film, the more noticeable it tends to be, but in some cases, it seems it is just something you have to live with..

If you 'zoom in' on the photo in JoeBRZ18's post, it looks to me like this 'border effect' is visible in his tint install as well..

We were poor folk and if we spent money on mods for the car, there had to be a measurable payback in performance. Tires, brakes and suspension mods came first because that paid the most dividends. Unlike our knuckle dragging friends who only knew straight line 0-60, we had secret information that there were twists and turns on the road. If my pizza delivery routes paid good tips, then I could invest in Weber carbs, headers and exhaust pipes. We also had to keep things street legal because some of the cops where we grew up were real ****s. The goal was a performance boost and if it sounded good that was icing on the cake. Okay, guilty... it had to sound good too. Fake engine sounds and replacement mufflers in my opinion is just like when us kids would attach playing cards to the forks of our bicycles to rub on the spokes. There is something to the whole psycho-acoustic thing with cars, so along the lines of how people perceive their cars, I will reveal a little secret we had back when I was twisting wrenches. Customers would bring their cars in to the dealership complaining about the engine not running quite right. Lots of stuff could cause that. There was bad gasoline that was all over town; many times it was left-over winter blends being pumped when the weather started to get hot. Carburetors and fuel lines were prone to vapor lock and a million other things. However, most of the time we did not find anything wrong. Here is what I would do: adjust timing a bit and send the car over to the wash rack and have every inch of glass cleaned and polished inside and out. Vinyl was especially bad back then and would out-gas and deposit a film on the inside of the glass. Customers would report back that the car ran much better and in some cases they reported better fuel economy. You don't believe me? Try this stunt with a spouse or a buddy of yours. Claim that you are going to do a simple adjustment that you saw on the Internet that is not intrusive to the workings of the car. In secret, make sure the car is a bit cleaner, but pay special attention to the glass. Clean it and so it shines like crystal. Turn the car over to your subject and have them take it for a spin and ask them to report back if they feel any improvement in how it runs. You will become a local genius and of course, don't reveal what you did.
I have said here for years that my car runs better after every wash. Nobody believed me! And even though I KNOW it is just in my head it is still so satisfying.

Drained out the tranny and diff fluids, and wiped all the metal off the plugs. There was a good bit, car has about 1300 miles on it. After I did that, I decided it might be good to put stuff back in. So then I put MT85 in the tranny and M1 75-90 in the diff (already had it laying around). I might try the motul next time since everyone else seems to like it. There's an annoying amount of bolts securing the aero panel. Yay.

Did the first oil change at 1450. Found out my old jack only lifts up to 15". Just barely enough for me to get to the drain plug and not tall enough for my jack stands to fit under the car, So a new jack is on the list. Other than that it is do easy to change the oil and filter. 10mm for the skid pan hatch and a 17mm for the drain plug.

Installed the spare I bought (came from a 2019 or a 2020 so it's fresh)

Took advantage of some small car parking

And finally, took the Subaru off the rear. Debadge = rice

Swapped lug nuts over to the Subaru black "locking" type. Please excuse the dirty car. Spring melt is taking forever this year (and we are getting 1-2 feet more snow this coming week...)

Do they appear to have cleaner threads than the stock ones?
