The stupid intake resonator is one of the loudest noises in the car. Once I plugged that up, the car became too quiet... except on really rough country roads where the tires make a lot of noise and they all come through the cabin...

Sorry for re-opening a dead thread, but I've been searching far and wide for someone with a similar issue as me and this is the only post I've come across with an exact description of what I'm experiencing.

I've been explaining the noise as "blowing over the hole of a glass bottle" or "swirling the rim of a glass of wine" to the dealership and my mechanic, and I'm not getting anywhere lol.

For me, this seemed to have start happening after getting 18" rims and Indy500's.

Did you or anyone ever find out what the problem was?

If it happened after getting the new wheels and tires, I'd have to think the tires are making more noise than your previous set. Different tires have different tread patterns which make different amounts of noise than others. Think about how loud big knobby tires are on bro-dozers.

And it will change as the tires wear. Sometimes they get quieter. Sometimes they get louder. The thing is that you will never know until you try them.
Tire noise is also very subjective and how "bad" or "good" each make is is completely dependent upon the user's perception of what "loud" is.

LOL, yeah, they're noise AF. I've had sketchy cheap winters for 2 seasons now but just grabbed some new Blizzaks after not wanting to deal with them for another.

This noise was just totally new to me, never heard it before on any car I've driven previously so it was an eyebrow raiser for sure.
