Recently I had a long, hard look at a BRZ tS. Overall, I was very disappointed. There are no carbon fiber accents in the interior like on my Inazuma. There are just shiny piano black plastic bits. No CD player, WTF? Yes, the infotainment screen is bigger but now that splits up the dash so you lose that nice long, one piece look. I do not mind the tS wheels but would have preferred them in 17 inch with the low profile stickier rubber. I’ve been driving a 2006 STi with that huge “Hey! Look at me” wing for 12 years now so the slim carbon fiber one on the tS would not bother me. The BRZ side rocker panel covers are not as sleek as those that will be coming on the new 86 TRD Edition.
I took photos of this tS to show the wife. She was not impressed with the fit and finish of my Inazuma and could not understand why it was so expensive. She found the tS even worse. She is correct in pointing out that the tS model is not worth the $8,652* CDN more than the out the door price I arranged for my Inazuma.
*The $8,652 amount is based on the difference between total of monthly payments of the two cars. Actual cash difference, if I’d paid cash for my Inazuma, would be somewhat less due to interest rates and cash purchase incentives.
Also, I must comment on the orange peel in the paint. I can’t believe how bad most Subaru’s paint finishes are. The wife’s 2016 WRB STi is terrible for orange peel and dull areas.

Do you have a BRZ (Inazuma) and wanted to trade it with the tS? I was never impressed with the tS model, but everyone can have a different opinion.
In general, I also believe that the BRZ is overpriced. In my country it costs 35k euros and you can buy the new wrx sti for 45k euro. I cannot justify just a 10k euro price difference between the two cars. I would expect a bigger difference ...

I see reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit, eh!
I was comparing the price I’d agreed to pay for a 2017 Inazuma (Series.Yellow to you) against the price quoted me for a 2018 tS. But hey, I guess it doesn’t matter what I think as long as I conform to the group’s cognitive biases.

No, I had arranged to purchase an Inazuma but was unable to take delivery.

Some members here seem to think otherwise. But then, they delete their posts.

It's the same here which is why its so hard to talk myself into buying one now.

What is the average gas mileage you guys get? After 2nd week of driving, I am getting 26. By the way, I have improved my driving skills now - jerking bit stopped, however, slow start is still there should improve this week.

First of all, stop changing your font from the forum default, it looks stupid and makes you seem like you specifically want the extra attention.

Second, what's the use of complaining about price if you don't even want the car/trim? lol.

You either want a BRZ/certain trim or you don't, and if you want a better deal you probably buy used. It's literally that easy.

Did you check out the gaps / places behind the door and trunk openings the finish is terrible, then again I've always viewed Subaru as a cheap brand anyway.

This North American BRZ tS is nothing like the past two JDM BRZ tS models, it's not offering much when compared to the performance package trim imo. There's a reason why they still haven't sold out.

I've averaged 27.5 over 13k miles. However, my commute is generally stop and go in LA traffic. My dad only drives highway miles and has averaged 36mpg over 18k miles on his series.yellow.

I had different German cars in the past with much better finish quality, but had many many technical issues. One particular car had even suspension top mount damage and the factory didn't pay it under the guarantee. They were saying that it was the first time to see that issue and it was related with aggressive driving and other BS. Afterwards I had other issues with the engine and at the end I sold it. I am much more happy with my Subarus having practically no issues at all! If something bad happens in the future I might change my opinion, but there are die hard fans with even 300k miles or more. They are saying that a 150k Subaru is usually in its mid-life. So, these cars if handled and serviced properly have the potential to last for a long time ...

About the tS, yes it could be better. The ones that we were installing all these years parts from the 2 tS JDM cars we know that the US offering is not much comparing to the PP trim level.

Pretty much only 1/3 of the tS's are available.

Also I'm about 20% done with the VIN list. I already recorded the first 160 tS's, but again I'm recording the first 1000 2018 BRZ's to make sure I don't miss any.
3 Weeks Later:

68 WRB
33 Crystal Black Sillica
44 Crystal White Pearl

It's not me, it seems to depend on which computer/OS ver. I use. Believe me, I don't need changed fonts to look stupid.

Easy for you maybe. I'm now on a fixed income and want to get as much as I can for as little as possible. Used doesn't work for me. I'd have to pull the money from my retirement savings and the bank will withhold a huge amount for income tax. Better to finance a new BRZ and take advantage of the low interest rates plus, only pay income tax if and when I break the given thresholds.

So, I ate my words and bought the dang thing. Pick it up this Thursday evening. We'll see if I was right or wrong about the tS.

Hey peeps! I got my white tS on Labor Day of 2018, trading in my 2016 STI. I do miss being able to do pulls, but I would miss the "handling delight" more if I had to switch back.

Introducing myself!
