Edit: He has a 2017 car which isn't currently eligible for SSC.

He also needs the right dampers, springs, wheels, tires, camber kit, and swaybars. Basically he needs to buy almost everything, a roughly $3k investment.

The only thing he's bought that will carry over to SSC is the exhaust and brake pads.


And if I could start over in STX again, I'd budget $6k for parts and have money left over for nearly a season's worth of entry fees.

Dont go STX unless you are willing to spend lots of money. And know that there are many great drivers in that class and competition is very very tough.
No. It's not as expensive to get into STX as anyone thinks. You don't need big brakes. You don't need a diff. You don't need race seats. You don't need a battery. You don't need a full exhaust. None of these will make you faster.

SSC all in is about $2700, STX all in can be as little as $4k. Shopping smart used will bring this down a lot. Biggest cost is coilovers and even those can be cheap.

I made my budget for STX... It came out to over $16,000 and I already have the exhaust and front sway.

My build is done and I've spent $3k, but I lucked out on used stuff. New it would be:
ProParts Megan coilovers - $1800
Whiteline 22mm - $200
Wheels and tires - $1200
Tomei Header - $600
HPS Intake tube and random panel filter - $150
OFT - $500

$4450 and that is literally all you need. Finding that stuff used or alternatives knocks off a few hundred bucks. Seriously what are you buying?

Question on TRD CS cars. From my understanding, TRD front and rear bar causes understeer. Why does it seems like everyone opt to run a smaller front bar rather then run a bigger rear bar?

I went with a softer front bar because I was concerned about the diff-assist that kicks in when you unload the inside tire in a turn. (With the long-press method) I never tested a stiffer rear bar though.

Where did you wind up sitting with rear camber with that setup? Or do you also have a rear LCA?

AutX newb here. What are the chances the rules change for C Street for next year. I don't want to buy some 17x7.5 wheels and find out that I could have got 8" wide wheels.

Street classes require wheels sizes that are available as OEM equipment, the only leeway you get is the +/-1" diameter and minor offset allowances.

The twins are in DS, if you're in CS (I think the ts and TRD are the only CS orphans) you are already in the wrong class.

You won't be competitive for your first 2 years (at least) anyway, but the twins are not competitive in CS regardless.

They won't change the width allowance for wheels next year (if at all). There's a process in which new rules get added to the rule book called "Fastrack" and they announce months/years ahead of time to garner feedback from the membership if they should/shouldn't go forward with it.

A rule change for wheel width has not been proposed, nor in the pipeline.

If he has the performance package (Brembo + shocks + 7.5" wheels), then he's in CS.

This may have been said already but imo it's not fair that the PP and tS got pushed into CS where they aren't that competitive. The new ND may not get bumped (my assumption).
