That is a sub group yes.
Another subgroup is in the Paulwalkerus family. They can be told apart by their distinctive cry of "fastandfurousisrealyooo"

In what technical ways does more power ruin the car. There have been some good responses such as: - if done well, it doesnt ruin the car - additional front end weight can hurt handling - additional weight on top of the engine can hurt COG - turbochargers are not ideal due to the lack in immediate response and the sudden onset of torque after that. |

The topic being discussed is "why would more power ruin the car" ie. of all the power adding solutions available that you mention (which we all aware of), which ones help the car and which ones ruin the car. And if so, how do they ruin the car. While I have added power to many cars before I have not done so to a handling focussed car. |

You are trying to make a topic that is subjective based upon personal opinion and make it black and white. The people that do some things may feel they made the car better while the next guy in line may feel they ruined it. The guy that slams a car to a 1/2 inch clearance doesn't think he ruined anything. The same applies to one that builds a 500 HP beast. If you just cherry pick the responses you want to hear and ignore everything else as "off topic" you may miss some very good information. All I am saying is you need to look at the whole picture not just a finely focused segment.

if theres a box on a counter surely the cat would knock it over but equally assuredly, if it fits, it sits. its no less solvable than the original cat paradox.

Is it better? Some would say yes. Is it worse? Some would say yes. It's definitely very different than the stock car. The same could be said for adding more power. It's going to change the car, period. You will have to experience it. Others can't do that for you. |

Unless there is a universal definition for "ruin" then the original question can't be answered by anyone on behalf of someone else.
For myself, in retrospect the car was brilliant at 205 whp (E85/Header/Tune) and 2600 pounds wet. I probably should have stayed right there. But......

I took my 240Z from stock 150(ish) hp to 250hp (3.1 L6 w/ headwork, cam, and 3x2 45mm triples). It did the opposite of ruin it...

That's because a 600 horsepower ANYTHING in 1975 was a full-tilt, race-only motor with gigantic cam, gigantic compression, gigantic headers, carb, etc. Today, 600 horsepower will idle under 1000rpm, in traffic with the A/C on, and still sail through an emissions test like nothing.

I love that sound...I've also had a rowdy cammed big block car, and nothing feels like it at idle at a traffic light.
