Thanks for the tips guys!
It's my donut gasket giving me trouble though! I had to take a dremmel to the midpipe because the area which seals on the midpipe was rusty and pitted like you wouldn't believe. I noticed when I was putting it back together that I did in fact need to muscle one bolt in, so the exhaust isn't lining up super straight. I don't know if it's from the front pipe forward, or the midpipe back though. I suspect it's because of the hanger on my muffler delete not quite being where it should be. I'm thinking of putting the OEM muffler on to see if that theory is correct. After spending about 3 hours on the car Saturday (I live in an apartment building, and it takes me a few trips to bring everything out to the car, pus putting everything away), I still have a leak lol. So the theory I'm going with currently is that the exhaust system isn't "straight". Hopefully I get this sorted out soon enough. PS I want to fix this myself, not hand it over to an exhaust shop that won't have a clue what's going on.

I hear you on the "do-it-yourself" angle - some of the more unscrupulous shops would probably just slather that muffler sealer over everything and call it a day.
One thing worth mentioning, although your setup is different from mine - I replaced the factory donut gasket with a flat gasket per the instructions for my Perrin 3.0" catback, since it was mating with a JDL front-pipe: ![]() Since you're still using the stock midpipe, you're probably supposed to be re-using the donut gasket, or maybe it'd be worth picking up a replacement donut and giving that a try? Does it look damaged? |

I'm currently on my third (maybe fourth?) donut gasket.
