Otherwise, hey I know I actually got a crap deal a while back because I really needed to make the deal sooner rather than later, but I just feel like "ohhhh you guys got me back then, nice job" instead of "OMG evil piece of crap dealer!" They've been cool since then anyway, so why have a problem with them?

To say all dealers are out to play games and screw you over is not realistic and just stereotyping. Just because you can't get what you want doesn't mean they are not doing a square deal. Some people have some very unrealistic expectations when buying/selling cars.

You're right about people having unrealistic expectations and hence I try to find dealers who are straight. I have never bought from dealers that I not liked and therefore had positive experiences when actually buying but finding the right sort of dealers is hard work! I will travel long distances if I know I'm getting a good service, very loyal and like to maintain relationships.

Taking the loss by selling this car now would be a YUUGE mistake, IMO. If the codes haven't reoccurred, drive it like you stole it. If they do, take it in and let the dealer fix it. You've got 29K miles left on the warranty. If it's not right, you'll know it well before then.



Too bad I'm not on the west coast. I'd make you a low ball offer and take it off your hands.

This is how my car looks right now. Breaks my heart. I like to keep things like how they came from the factory and this just makes me feel that things won't be the same with everything taken apart already at such an early stage...which is why I had the thought of selling.

I'm the same way. You never know the experience level of the tech who works on your car. They might put it back better than factory. They might eat glue on their lunch break.

I asked around about the value of mine around the 6 month mark of ownership.

My car was $29k msrp. In 6 months and maybe 10k miles, I got quoted $19k trade in by everyone in my region. On the lot, they're asking about $22k.

I'd start paying extra every month and try to get it down to where you can break even on a trade.

I've had mine listed for $22k now for about 6 months and haven't gotten a single hit.

They are machines and are meant to be taken apart and put back together. That is why everything isn't locked away inside a sealed module. Being machines also means that sometimes they don't work right and need to be fixed. Not the end of the world. Some get fixed at the very end of the assembly line before they have even hit the street.
If you had a long list of issues and they were not trying to fix them I could see the complaint but the longest delay was you getting it to them and they are obviously working on it so it will be fine in the end.

I don't see it the same way I guess. My main concern is that I'm not ready to own a car that may break down on me right after my warranty and this right now is not a good sign. Plus I've repeated my problems to the dealers such as severe creaking of the window and crunchy feeling clutch, but they seem to be in another world and just think I'm crazy. I've wasted countless hours going to dealerships tbh.

If my loss is under 4k then I would consider. I only owe about 12 5k on the car so I will make some money back. Just wanted some thoughts. Plus I'm trying to make an excuse to get PP haha

ANY car can break down right after warranty! Jumping to another isn't really an answer either since you could end up in another car that is even worse.
The window is perfectly normal and most frameless ones I have ever had made the same sort of noise. The "crunchy clutch" I don't understand. It is an inexpensive coupe not a BMW or Lexus and some things are indeed normal.
Not a hope in hell you will get out of it with just a $4K loss.

^^^^I agree with Tcoat, mechanicals are designed to be easily dismantled for repairs/replacement however I usually struggle with bodywork damage as shutlines, panel alignment and repainting is a very hit and miss affair.^^^^

I may just live with it in the end, which is why I started this post to gauge what I can get. Btw I don't think my window problem is the general problem other 86 has, I've looked all over and nothing describes it. It's a mechanism inside the door that causes a loud cracking when it's hot. Sounds like you're closing an old basement door lol
