Broken OBD2 connector

Hey guys,

Something has happened to my OBD2 connector where certain things will simply not get a good connection anymore, but others will. Today I failed an emissions test not because of my mods but because they couldn't connect to the darned ECU to check the readiness codes, and refused to connect through my extension cable which somehow manages to allow for a working connection.

Anyone have experience replacing the connector? It it simply a quick harness to unplug?

First, I would get down on the floor of the driver's seat area and have a look at the connector - it is likely a pin or two has bent out of position. Even just a little bending can result in failed connections with some cables (not all cables have the same connection tolerances). If pins are too bent, or are dislodged, your best bet will be to re-pin the plug. It's a pain, but will be worth it. While you are repinning the plug, you can add in a bracket to reinforce the plug so that the likelihood of bending pins is reduced.

Of course, if the port has stopped working entirely, check the OBD fuse in the interior fuse box to the left of the steering column.

Also, this thread might help: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=39137&page=3

Within that thread, someone mentioned this replacement kit: http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...k9j6vmohvi2c43
