Mine just started doing this at 13000 miles.
Makes a crunchy/tin like sound.

A way to fix the problem is to pull the carpet back a bit and spray WD40 on the Christmas tree thing. You need the straw tip for the WD40. Just use your fingers to be sure you're spraying on the right spot. It's not squeaking any more for me!

It's still silent today as I drove to work

Which I'm so happy about since I place my foot there 90% of the time. Honestly my car does not rattle at all and I've been putting on 20k/yr on roads that aren't in the best shape. It does have the fuel pump cricket noise though

113k on the odo plus bushings, camber plates, and a sway bar has lead to many clunks and weird sounds starting. The exhaust and music drown most of it out though

If you can't fix something with baling wire, duct tape or WD40 then it can't be fixed!

Close enough. My tool box consists of duct tape, wd40, zip ties, a hammer, and a bigger hammer.

The bigger hammer is for when nothing else works you and just want to destroy whatever it is for therapeutic reasons

It's a common term. Been around a while and companies selling aftermarket pedals even market it that way.
