Clutch chatter

So my car has 16,700 miles on it now. It is bone stock and I have never auto X it or anything. Occasionally I like to do some pulls, shifting at almost redline. And when i shift i do it fast (not power shifting tho) and as im getting back on the gas and letting off the clutch, it chatters and kind of has a deadspot where it wont really accelerate for a second before it engages again (not clutch slipping). this also happens when im in a gear coasting and when i get on the throttle itll chatter a lil bit before taking off

can someone help me out please

Welcome to our forum..........

Does what you call "chatter" feel like a clutch disk slipping (revs go up, but car doesn't move any faster) ....... or, the engine is hesitating (revs don't go up)..??

Seems like a pretty common quirk around here. You could be shifting into too high a gear at too low an RPM. At low RPM the FA20 is a pretty gutless engine producing almost no torques. Couple that with a drive by wire throttle that has a bit of hesitation upon depressing the pedal, and you're gonna have the car feeling like it's broken if you engage the gear at anything below 2.5k RPM (not shifting just to clarify, I mean the gear you're shifting into engaging at 2.5k).

Apart from that, you also have to consider how little noise dampening this car has, so you could very realistically just be hearing normal mechanical components that you would otherwise not hear in a car with proper sound deadening.

Reviving an old thread, I too hear a brief chattering noise when shifting up at redline and doing it fast (letting off clutch and gas in). OEM clutch btw. Been wondering if this is normal too. No noise whatsoever shifting at any other rpm though.

same thing happened to me, revs go up but speed doesn't catch up, i went to get a dyno done and they couldn't because my clutch is worned down, you have worned down your clutch, time to buy a new clutch, i would buy a flywheel too. you can buy both for around $600.

A shop might resurface the flywheel.

It's from granny shifting, not double-clutching like you should.
