What rear badge? What's funny is that three years ago some people could not stick enough Toyota and 86 badges on the FR-S. Sucks that Toyota listened to those fools. |

Don't you feel good about yourself, little Tommy? You're special and don't let anyone ever tell you differently. As an aside before we begin, I would just like to say this thread has gotten so far off topic. So, if you want to start a new topic, go right ahead. Or, you can just PM me, maybe we can be friends! I don't bite, I swear and I'm actually kinda nice. So, without further ado, let us begin. Flame ON! Too bad I'm not allowed to have an opinion. Everyone (this time meaning all the purposely negative commenters) needs to calm down. I feel like I'm in a PS4 vs Xbox One war. I like both cars. If I had an 86, I'd kit it out. A lot of people like to kit out their cars and a lot of people don't. To each their own. As for your comment on my car doing the same exact thing as off the lot? Yeah, no. I mean I can easily get it to, albeit with a more comfortable ride than stock with only 2" of ground clearance, minimal to no fender gap without having any negative camber...unless I want to change my camber since I do have adjustable LCAs and front bolts thanks to that hybrid WRX chassis. See little Tommy, I'm prepared for the future. The future can be a very scary place, so it is very important to always be prepared and have a full tank of gas. Oh yeah, and I had some extra money to spend and lots of time to kill since I live in Chicago and I bought the car in January. Plus, working on cars is kind of fun! You really should try it. You might just like it and save a buck or two. Anyway, back to the matter at hand, I seem to recall stating I have solid grip. I can change the dampening setting on my car on the fly to make it understeer, oversteer, or neutral; just pop the trunk, set the dials and take off. There's no need to touch the front dampeners since my Stance rear LCAs give my rear pistons more room to travel. Nevertheless, my goal is to have a straight line shooter that can take corners flat without scrubbing speed. I know right, science. Just google it or something, or play around with the settings in Forza or Driveclub or I don't know, Mario Kart. Damn, now I've gone and started PS4 vs Xbox One war, not Nintendo though, Nintendo is just doing it's own thing. Don't you ever change, Nintendo. Don't change! Great, now I'll get flamed for starting a system war. Ugh! Why can't I follow my own advice?!? (That was rhetorical, BTW. My bad, BTW means by the way. Side note, I feel like I have to spell everything out now. Sarcasm will do that to you.) And since I'm suddenly bound by the moral and ethical rules of the social contract to explain everything I say and do, if you've read an article on the the 86 platform or watched a video reviews about the car, on the you tubes, within the last couple of years, you might have read or heard, um well seen... unless you're listening to it in a podcast or something: (To paraphrase, heaven forbid you take my quote literally,) "It's a fun car to drive and go around corners with, but I just wish it had more power." MayI beg your gracious pardon, please excuse the semantics, that's what I mean by the term, "Everyone." At this point, I would add a bunch of links to a bunch of different review articles where I've heard it said the car is lacking in the power department, or maybe some video reviews, heck, even Car Talk Podcast... oh, but they're all reruns. I digress, I've already taken up way too much of your precious and valuable time as it is. Plus, you kids nowadays know how to use those internet web snap chat apps on your smart phones, I'm sure you'll figure it out. I'd do it for you, but I'm too busy playing Pokémon Go and my battery is about to die. Just keep clicking on a bunch of links, I'm sure something will pop up. Btw, I see you live in Oregon, make sure you don't die from dysentery! Wait, that's probably way too over your head, just Bing it or what ever you kids do these days. I also see you drive a 2017 GT-86. I'm assuming you imported that from the UK. That's what I call, Baller! Anyway, I'm just being snarky (that means I'm communicating in a snide way... snide, that means an indirect mocking way.) The moral of this tome, Tommy, is that the more twins Toyota and Subaru sell, the better off we all are as a community of a likeminded individualistic collective. So, let's all be one big happy family!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, good on you, I guess there's no rear badge. I haven't had a reason to go to a Toyota dealer to actually look at one yet. So, I've never noticed. I will give you credit though, that last line truly is a keeper. Good on you, little Tommy, good on you! Quote:

Looking at all those in a row I think I know what the new bumper designer's favorite move is!

No, I meant they are all starting to look the same with the redesigns that are starting to come out. Although, the Corolla looks like a combination of the 2015 Camry mid-refresh that had that wide mouth grill and similar to the outgoing Scion tC, I'm guessing to bridge the gap into the new design direction that Toyota is going into. That said, I am going off of the original Blue Corolla picture I was shown and I'm reposting it for a point of reference. Isn't the 1st and 3rd image you posted of the Prius? If one of them is the new Corolla, then it looks different than the one I commented on earlier and does indeed look like the rest of the new lineup of Toyota vehicle coming to market. So, please take that into consideration. If they are 2 different pictures of the Prius, then the Corolla is partially similar with it's wide set corner grills, but more radical than the rest of the lineup. I'm not sure if the picture that I commented on earlier is a show car or of a production model. And the headlights don't count because they look nothing like the 2017 86. The 86 has the wide corner flared grills and the badge in the same location. It's a bit of a stretch to compare the lower bumper fangs on the Corolla and the 86.
Either way, I'm out. I'm going back to the Subaru section were I should've stayed. I've only ever owned 3 Toyota vehicles and that's not including the Toyobaru BRZ. Insomnia, the struggle is real. Peace out!

So, let me preface this question by saying I haven't read the previous 222 pages of this thread, and I'm not going to..lol. Regarding the '17 manual transmission version with the deeper gearing, is there an advertised improvement in straight line performance? I'd assume there is, but just checking...

Interesting...unless the car has gained weight, the 4.30 gear puts it halfway between the older 4.10 and the aftermarket 4.56 gears which everyone seems to love, performance-wise (aside from highway droning...). |

I'm sure the refreshed manual puts down consistently better acceleration times, but I don't remember reading any numbers yet. |

I know this is just sales hype but from Toyota’s website:
86 comes with a close-ratio 6-speed transmission for breathtaking acceleration and impressive fuel economy. The rear differential of manual transmission-equipped 86 has been revised to incorporate a set of 4.30 gears. Designed for heightened response, this new rear diff helps improve low-end acceleration. This gearing also helps keep 86 in its performance “sweet spot” while in the twisty stuff, making it easier to accelerate out of corners. |
