Rocket bunny v2 wheel hitting the body of the car. Can't make u-turns

Hi does anyone know how to fix this issue. Rocket bunny v2 with forgestars f14 9.5 inch * 18 inch wheels in the front and when I turn the wheel the whole way it's hitting the body of the car. Can an alignment fix this or do I need to cut the body of the car? It's welded in the place it's hitting is it safe to cut there?

an easy fix would be to get 17 wheels or lower profile tires, or a combo of both. I personally would not want to cut/grind anything on the car unless you have no other option.

Cheapest thing to do is get different tires for just the front.
What I find strange is that you're only on 18s and it's hitting that. I've only seen 19s with semi-meaty tires hit that. Didn't think 18s hit that. Even my friend with 19s and low-profile tires has about an inch gap between his wheel and that area..

He was on 19s, so yeah.. not sure why your 18s are doing this :\.

I had to cut off like the lip of that area to stop rubbing. All the local RBs also cut this area to stop rubbing.


I'm also running a really low offset so you probably won't have to cut as much as I did.

Getting different tires or rims is out of the question, had these custom made and paid a pretty penny for them brand new. Plus only had them for like 2 weeks. Just got the car back!

I had rays gram lights 57 xtreme before 18" with meatyer tires and never had this issue. Someone said it could be "offset" but honestly I have no idea what offset is and what that effects. Is cutting that area safe? If someone sideswipes my car does that area still hold up? I'm hesitant to modify the body of the car especially since there is a weld there.. How will it hold up in terms of side collision?

okay basically offset is how much your wheel suck inward or outward from rotors. with the right offset the rim could sit flush, stick out, or slightly tucked behind fender.

if you do shave body you can have it reinforced by having it attach to another part near the area of effect. probably will have to have a body shop custom fit it for you. it'll help it more in a collision, but let's face it either way if something hit your car it'll damage it no matter how strong the body is.

BTW tucking the wheels behind fender a bit is kind of the goal to not scrapping the fenders as you turn since there's space behind the fenders. if this is not done. you must compensate by having wheel size/tires size that's smaller than fender gaps

Response to turtle thanks, I still don't really understand the offset factor but I guess the fender will have to come off and cut that area. I'll take it to a professional who can let me know if I'm hurting the structure of the car by eliminating that area or not

That area of your car should be repaired, yes. But, to solve your problem you should get wheels and tires with a fitment that works for your car.

Okay, so you don't care about the handling, you want the basic look.


You've already done irreparable modifications to the car, to get the functionality back without buying correct offset wheels you will be cutting. Why not go back to the people that installed the kit?


Do you have sideview pictures of the wheels and general fitment?

np, but if you look at the picture you posted. the face of the wheel is sticking out of fender? offset basically determine how much that sticks out or goes into fender. when you turn the wheel base on the offset you have now, your tire will rub against fender. it's kind of late now since you already purchase rims unless you can trade back for am offset that fits your fender, than you won't have to cut anything good luck let's hope it's not to costly

Fitment is perfect besides it hitting the body of the car. It's an 18" wheel. There's people that have 19" with no problem so idk... and going back to the person is out of the question for reasons I will not disclose.
