PSS is a great rain tire. Who told you it wasn't?

I need tires. Like, now. Two have been destroyed. I'm excited about starting to track, autocross, as well as being primarily a spirited DD.

Since people here are in the NW, they know what this thing called "rain" is, a majority of the year. What do they people here who DD their cars, but also track them, do for a tire? I really want the Pilot Super Sports, but how hazardous to drive them in the rain?? Do the occasional track people run summer tires year round? I don't have the money to change back and forth, which would be the ideal way to go.

I'm grumpy because I've been obsessing over tires for hours and hours. I'm tired, and tired of it. Thanks for listening.

I guess the fact that it's a uhp summer tire. Now that you make me say that, I feel kind of stupid for not first seeing how good/bad that tire was in the rain instead of assuming. And spending hours of staring at tires because of that assumption.

So are they good in the rain and cold?

They suck at Temps below about 35 degrees. Do you get a lot of snow in Eugene? And do you have another car for snow? In PDX we don't sweat it.

Probably just a bit more than PDX, but not much, no. We usually have pretty equal weather.

Hot Lap at PIR!

@Rio Hey man thanks for all the help Friday with the tire pressure gauge and holding it down for the 86 gang. Was a blast harassing some of the faster cars out there. Here's my last hurrah to bust into the 130's. Finally!!! Took all day and a spin in session 1. (that vid uploading now)

I will agree wholeheartedly with Rio. I've had PSS's before and run them year round on a 400hp FWD. They are an excellent all year tire. They performed great for me all the way down to 15 degree weather without issue. I never tried them in the snow, but I would never put this car in snow anyways (not because it's not capable, but because my baby doesn't need other drivers running into it).

Cool, I just had mine put on. Great street tire and 2 seconds faster at PIR than the stock primacy. Save your primacy though. For as much crap that they get, I had a lot of fun on mine and still have them as back up on the stock wheels.

So my car is coming up for DEQ soon. I've been told they just check to see if your CEL is on and they no longer do the sniff test. Can anyone confirm?

The cel had to turn on when you startup the car, I know that for sure. Failed on my last car for removing the light so I didn't have to see it lol
