SOLVED - headlight bulb replacement
-right DRL works
- right turn signal works - right high beam works but right low beam won't turn on!! i'm a noob when it comes to electrical stuff. Just reading the forum now, I think it may be a blown fuse? Going under the hood to check shortly. will there be a replacement fuse provided if this is the case? I need to have my headlightss working asap and the dealership is closed today Last edited by RickyRacer; 05-09-2016 at 12:13 AM. |

fuse #40 underhood is for rh headlamp low beam 15amp.
fuses 15 through 20 are all spare fuses No need to disconnect battery for simple removing and reinstalling any fuse. If the fuse not blown, most likely cause is blown filament in the related headlamp bulb itself. |

most likely bad bulb filament.
low beam on basic car is H 11, halogen bulb, 55watts. sorry for the bad picture And yes it would be the h-lp rh lo. meaning headlamp right hand low beam. the two 10amp fuses near there are for the high beams....each low beam is 15 amp each high beam is 10amp fuse. Don't be afraid just cause you've had bad incidents in the past.
No problem should arise if you replace a bulb whilst the headlamp switch is in the off position. New bulb should be handled with paper towel or kleenex, so as not to get oil from skin onto new bulb...which could shorten life of a new bulb. The low beam bulb, as shows in the book, is the one closest to fender of car. Depress lock release (of electrical connector) and pull connector from bulb socket. turn the base of the bulb socket counter clockwise to release it from entire headlamp assembly. Bulb should just pull out of socket. Edit: I'm not familiar with this type of bulb...I see now bulb comes in new plastic socket...really easy then to replace. Bulb choices (for strength and color of light), but basic bulb should be around $10. Book pic I sent, if you can read it, shows how to replace bulbs. Bulbs can be had at any auto parts store, possibly also big box store like Walmart. Last edited by ToySub1946; 05-08-2016 at 05:50 PM. |

Thanks for your help ToySub
Bought some Sylvana ultra stars. Made sure they were the same as OEM (55w) Did the replacement Problem fixed! Replaced both. Also... Not sure if my other bulb was low.. But these new ones are quite a bit brighter and more "white". Anyways.. Doesn't mean much to me I just hope it doesn't break again soon. But thanks for guiding me through this. Cheers!!! |
