Aslking for recomendations on upgraded wheel/tire pairings for 2013 Scion FRS

Ok 2013 Scion FRS. Been riding on the original tires (Turanza) since I bought it in Oct 2013 except for the short period of time I had snow tires on.

Its gotten to the point where even though the tread depth looks ok I have VERY little traction even on dry roads. So I want to upgrade the tires and wheels to a larger diameter after the snow tires come off.

Can I get some suggestions for good upgraded (larger) wheel/tire pairings that have worked out for you? Nice specific sizings and brands please.

Also, does going to a larger diameter tire affect the speedometer and/or void the warranty?

Thanks much.

Hello @SnowCrash7 and welcome to posting to ye ol forum ......

The tires that have worked for me, up here in the PNW, are the OEM size, Goodyear Eagle Sport all-season.

They do a decent job on snow, a good job on wet roads and hold their own on dry roads.

I don't do auto-X nor track my car.

Personally, for my type of driving, I see no reason to go to a larger tire.

Yes, a larger tire (in diameter) will effect the speedometer reading a bit.

No, a larger tire should not effect any warranty claims (unless they were associated with the change in tire size). Like putting on drag slicks, dumping the clutch and turning in a claim for a broken axle.

What is your goal? Personally I wanted a light wheel setup so I went with 18x9.5 Enkei rpf1. If you're on stock suspension I'd suggest 18x8 size wheels so you don't rub on your spring perch. As for tires I've found the Achilles atr sport ii to be one of the best value tires for dry performance. With 18x8 wheels I'd suggest 235/35 size tires.
