That's only with the older dishwashers. The newer ones have controllers that won't let you open the door in the wrong cycle.

The coolest new dishwashers have dual clutch cycle selectors. They can switch between rinse&hold to pots&pans in the blink of an eye. Truly amazing.

Oh I don't like the dishwasher telling me what I should do or taking control. I do the button dance and turn off the nannies so I can open the door when I want. I can control the cycles way better than any old controllers can.

They exist for a reason because DISWASHERS are DANGEROUS. Do you also lick frosting off of the beaters while the mixer's running?

Well my lightning fast reflexes and licking skills mean I can do it without risk. These modern geared mixers are not strong enough to be a problem anyway. Give me the good old direct drive ones any day. Now they were a man's mixer.
