Just a quick question. Do our cars come with a factory fitted alarm?

If so is it active?

I locked the car with the windows open to test it out. Waited a few mins and then I unlocked the doors from the inside.... And nothing. Its got me worried.

I read online that some of the guys in the rest of the world had to activate their alarms. I followed the steps to activate it and I got nothing.

Hi, I don't think they have a alarm. I asked toyota when I bought mine and they said it has no alarm. Terrible for a SA car!

Oh well. Has anyone put installed an after market system? can you make recommendations for good quality ones which will work with my car remote?

the autowatch clam is a good one, will work with your stock key fob.

I simply believe that its a programming thing, IE, the alarm ecu from a US car would be the same as our ones but simply a little differently programmed

i think its inactive as default.

Mine has a factory fitted alarm

dont try and unlock it with the key anywhere close when testing... lol

Factory or dealer fitted?

Alarm is greyed out in Techstream meaning it does not exist.

Does your alarm make the normal toyota hooter noise when you lock/unlock it? I spoke to 2 toyota dealers who say there is no alarm. but judging by their knowledge of the 86.....
