Just a quick question. Do our cars come with a factory fitted alarm?

If so is it active?

I locked the car with the windows open to test it out. Waited a few mins and then I unlocked the doors from the inside.... And nothing. Its got me worried.

I read online that some of the guys in the rest of the world had to activate their alarms. I followed the steps to activate it and I got nothing. :iono:

Hi, I don't think they have a alarm. I asked toyota when I bought mine and they said it has no alarm. Terrible for a SA car!

Oh well. Has anyone put installed an after market system? can you make recommendations for good quality ones which will work with my car remote?

the autowatch clam is a good one, will work with your stock key fob.

I simply believe that its a programming thing, IE, the alarm ecu from a US car would be the same as our ones but simply a little differently programmed

i think its inactive as default.

Alarm is greyed out in Techstream meaning it does not exist.

Does your alarm make the normal toyota hooter noise when you lock/unlock it? I spoke to 2 toyota dealers who say there is no alarm. but judging by their knowledge of the 86.....
