Quick question. Has anybody else noticed that the fuel trims go higher when ambient temps are cooler and the. go down when it's gets hotter? How do I adjust for ambient temp compensations, or is there a table for that? @shiv@vishnu?

Airtemp vs Airflow compensation tables is probably the closest. I'm not sure I'd change that though unless you just 0 it out for calibration purposes.

Shiv,
Before i purchase the tablet i wanted to ask a question you may not be able to answer. Lets say an updated 86 does come out and it has some form of a different motor. That could be more displacement or FI. Could the tablet still be used on that car? I know a new map would have to be developed but would the tablet be able to flash that car. Also, if it could be used on the new car would current tablet owners be able to download the map for free? Thanks and like i said i understand u may not be able to answer this but it will help to decide whether or not to buy the tablet.

Unfortunately I don't know what the future holds with regards to engine revisions. All I can say is that if they use the same ECU hardware, it's likely that the current OFT will work without any firmware updates. The biggest changes would then be the OFT maps which would have to be developed from scratch for the new engine type. New maps, as always, would be free. The only thing we sell is the OFT hardware

I understand and appreciate your prompt response. I really like the 86 and would buy the next one if it is a worthwile update. That, however, makes modding mine a questionable choice. If toyota makes an update like honda did from the AP1 s2000 to the AP2 then it will be worth it. I would love to be able to transfer my parts but ya that is unknown at this time. Thanks for atleast answering the question about the maps being free.

Many people seem happy with them. I would run several times in the same location with a few minutes of easy driving in between to cool off. That would give a good sense of how much variation the method has. I would also test several hard back-to-back runs just to see how much heat matters. With an NA car, though, it doesn't matter all that much unless there are custom parts, and even then it shouldn't matter all that much.

New 86 with FI...

I thought that hope was dispelled.

Carn't see it for a couple of years yet either.

Current BRZ/86 still selling well

They will not want to undermine new WRX sales until they see how it sells, if WRX is a flop then maybe an updated BRZ/86 might come out earlier, if Toyota approves

Either way as Shiv's points out it will probably have same/similar ECU so current hardware will be able to interface with it.

So I did some more pulls with the advanced timing making a point to do it in warmer temps as to confirm that the increase was not due to lower IAT's in the cooler air. Although I did not do so before mucking up my MAF scale using one of those home made maf rescaleing apps. Results below.

I guess 1 more degree of advance summoned up a couple more ponies to the wheels confirmed, even with the wonky fuel trims and AFR's.

Heres what the 2 best pulls from each session and the best pull from the OTS tune looks like on the same graph.

I'll probably add another degree of advance in the same spots as I did earlier and see what happens, but only after I get my MAF scale sorted out first.

I've been running the e85 tune for about 3000 miles now; in the last 1000 miles I've had a check engine light 3 seperate times. The first two times it was exhaust leak at header (p2096) which I'm almost positive isn't leaking, and tonight it showed p2096 and p0451. Anybody have any clue what the deal is? I only get the CEL while driving on the highway around 75 mph.

Within the next year Toyo will have no say in what Suby does with their version and likewise Suby to Toyo version, so you can prob expect to see some form of STI BRZ/ TRD FRS here in the US. The two companies basically made a pact that the 2 versions would stay pretty much in and out mechanically identical for the first 2 full years of production/sales, after which the chains come off.

P.S. The BRZ is aimed at a completely different demographic than the WRX, so that's def no bearing on the decision. From a business standpoint, there's no way they would price point 2 vehicles the same that were aimed at the same demo.

Then they will likely end up working for GM.
