Mann Engineering Coilovers
Anybody have any experience with them? They are a pretty reputable Subaru shop in my area (SF Bay Area) and are known for being one of the few companies to provide coilovers for the Forester.
I've spoken to and e-mailed them a few times with questions and the owner, Gary, has answered each one of them very well. My only hesitation is the lack of reviews there are around. I've looked around the forum and the net trying to do some research but could only find one review of the set-up (from Canada). They are based on AST 4150s but modified by Mann to better fit our cars. I'm curious to hear what people think about these or even any comments on AST's? I'm not really much of a "bling" guy, so I'm really digging the plain, OEM look also. http://www.mann-engineering.com/prod...13-brzfr-sgt86 Also available with inverted front coilovers. ![]() http://www.mann-engineering.com/prod...sgt86-inverted Last edited by BigFatFlip; 03-06-2014 at 03:48 AM. |

If they're based on AST's, valved to MANN's specs, you can be sure that they will be an excellent quality coilover. Top notch for sure.

They have their recommended spring rate (5k? I'm not really sure) but if installed locally, like I'm planning to, they would be able to switch them out for whatever you wanted out of what they have available. I believe they also carry Swift springs as an upgrade option. |

I think based on a write up they started with 5/5k and decided to of with 6/7 to make the car rotate easier and behave as it did while stock. I was also considering these but wanted top hats, the one mann offers are $500 so maybe vorshlag, just need the right specs for the perches.

Just requested it, will post if I get anything back.

They were marketing them as "track" versions, but in general, inverted struts are much more durable when it comes to side-loading. They are very common in motorsports, specially in rally racing. ![]() Tein also has a nice explanation: http://www.tein.com/classroom/inverted/index.html I'm sure you can chop that rear and fit something like this ![]()

Wondering what diameter springs this uses to know if we could use other top hats.

Yeah i was looking into those but they turn out to be a lot more expensive than to just run the one MANNs use. Unless I'm doing something wrong.
Check out the selections and price |

I believe they re-use your stock top hats, unless you specify, in which you can either use Subaru OEM, or some other "stock" fitting top hat.
