There is just no way you trade out 1 year into a lease and not loose money on a car. I assume he's probably already looked at the numbers at the dealership, didn't like them and that's why he posted here. His best chance for not losing any money is still having someone assume the lease. I wish him luck, it's not fun trying to get out of a lease...

^^ I think you're really underestimating the demand for a car like this with under 7k km's on it. It would easily sell for more than the current buyout.

Take a look at what the used market prices are like for FR-S' right now:

http://www.autotrader.ca/a/pv/Used/S...%2c10%2c9&st=1

Similar mileage cars are going for ~$28k. That's almost $5k over the current buyout, a dealership would be stupid to not want to make money that easily.

Actually his current buyout is $27k once you add the tax. And those are dealership used prices... You have to take them with a grain of salt because the cars probably don't actually sell for what they ask for.

I should look at what I got for my FR-S when I traded it... I had the first one in SK. I loved driving it and am considering another as a summer fun car. I am driving a 2013 4Runner Trail right now. I have enough saved I can pay the whole lease at once or if I wait a few more months I can just pay cash for the whole car.

Wow did this ever balloon. First off I have walked away from 3 Toyota leased vehicles 2 of which were 36months remaining and the other 27 months. There seems to be many misinformed people about taking over a lease.
Most people in the situation of trying to get out of a lease end up with negative equity. The amount I put down on this car was $0 (which actually works out to $2750) that is why the payment is $0 down $0 security deposit and it is a lease transfer not a used car sale.
The same car at Heffner Toyota in Kitchener ON is $1000 more, no spoiler, no tint, no upgraded stereo and no Lease option.

I'm not in a position that I have to sell the car. I want to simply get rid of it for another.....Why

The rate I got the car for was 4.99% May 1 2013. That rate was the same for a year did not expect it to drop in prime summer time for a car selling the demand that it was commanding last year. The rate dropped 1% to 3.99% June 1st 2013 (dealers have absolutely no idea when this happens) I said from that date that I would end up getting rid of it for another (if I could)

The current rate is 2.99% which = for an employee discount of $346.46 (36 month lease)as opposed to my current payment of $406.8 based on the (37 remaining months)

Most people would have to roll about 3k to get out of a lease this early. Due to the employee discount I'm not worried

It's simple math you would be looking at $420 per month tax included on a 2014 FRS @ 2.99% with $0 down on a 36 month 20,000km per year BUYOUT OPTION $14,512

What do you get with mine 2013 FRS $406.80 per month tax included Rear Spoiler, Window Tints, Upgraded Stereo. BUYOUT OPTION $13,407

IS IT A GREAT DEAL but what you get as a payment with spoiler, tint and optional buyout it is cheaper 7,000km that's less then a dealer demo (notice I didn't add the upgraded stereo as it is now standard)

Not sure who said it but Hefner did lie (have the email) that team members were not eligible for the discount. When the true answer should have been we are not offering the Tmmc discount on that vehicle (as we are not obligated too as it is a limited edition)

Oh ya even if HEFFNER dropped their price by a grand, you would still have no upgraded stereo, spoiler or tint and 12,000 more Km's for the EXACT SAME CAR. So when you compare apples to apples PRETTY SURE MINE IS AHEAD

I think for the OP sake, let's chalk this up to a great deal that hopefully someone can take advantage of.

This is after all the classified section, not general discussion.

Good luck with the sale/lease takeover!
