That's a nice set of features for $1900. All the features of the BRZ with the styling/white tach of an FR-S. I'd get this if I was in the market for a Twin.

We shouldn't look at this as a battle between BRZ and FR-S. It's a good thing that future FR-S owners have more options available and don't have to rely on DIY in order to try to get the BRZ features into an FR-S. This is a good step forward.

Hmm, I take back my statement - the BRZ in Canada with the Sport-Tech package goes for $29,295 CDn pre tax and delivery so I hope the Monogram Series isn't higher than that.

Glad Subaru doesn't pull these shenanigans… Two limited trim levels within a year? Please… And to think at that price it still comes with Scion badges.

When the FR-S was first released, I quickly saw the differences, as we basically got the base model GT86 (non-RC). I knew that somewhere down the line, Scion would probably make their release series have the "higher end" GT86 features. But I wanted the car too much to hold out a year or more for cosmetic and creature comforts.
I must admit I would have bought the monogram packaged car if it was available at release, but it wasn't, so I bought my car and have enjoyed it the whole time. I've already added a set of GT86 headlights, which was the basis of my jealousy, so it's not all bad. ![]() Now I just have to wait to see if Scion starts bringing over those japanese catalog options, like the TRD body kit... |

For those that say that the monogram edition is only $1900 more, it is actually $2700 more. This is because the $27400 does not include the destination fee, so you have to subtract that from the price of the 2014 model that does not include the destination fee, which is $24700. So $27400 - $24700 is actually $2700 more for the monogram edition.

As for the "car war," most of my posts on the matter aren't that serious and poke a little fun at some of the FR-S drivers that seem to need to justify their purchase of the barebones version of the car. I've said it a billion times that if the FR-S came with a leather seat option, I'd be in one instead of a BRZ. Every town/city is different. That's why comparing insurances rates from other municipalities is a waste of time. |

True, however there is more than one way to mess with pricing. I once got "lower than MSRP" because the sales guy raised my trade-in price well above what even I felt was fair in order to clinch the sale. It's basically the same thing from the other direction and all that really matters at the end is how much you still owe on the new car. It's funny because if Subaru had done the same I'd have been in a BRZ Limited instead, but (in my specific case) Toyota was more flexible with the over-all financing for me. I prefer the FR-S front-end/side trim anyway, and didn't want a spoiler really, so that worked out. I really just wanted push to start. We all have a BRZ and we all have an FR-S. Some even have a GT86 which is still a BRZ/FR-S and vice versa. They're all the same car. It's like if I buy a pair of shoes from one store and someone says why didn't you buy that exact same pair of shoes but with different laces from that other store? It's the same shoe. The only difference is the laces, store return policy, etc. The Monogram version moves the trim levels even closer to each other. None of these editions is better than the other, they are all made to fit different price points, preferences, etc. |

Actually the official Delivery, Processing and Handling fee identified for most of the U.S. is $755 according to http://www.scion.com/buildyourscion/...mission=Manual Even Scion of Wallingford, CT (area where the OP lives) offers the car with the $755 fee. Kinda weird.

Seriously nobody gives a little more respect to Subaru than Scion? To me, Scion = Toyotas department meant for 20-30yr olds. WOO! SCION! Subaru to me equals history and performance. I'll probably never rebadge mine because us 'Mericans got stuck with the FR-S instead of the GT86 and I'll never find it fair but I won't fake it either. They're not the same and they wouldn't need all these editions if the FRS title never existed.
