Really cool thread: nice rides everyone !!
Im a huge vintage Honda collector, love them all.

I am in the market for a new touring bike, I was at a few dealers today.
Top of my list is a Honda of course.
- Honda ST1100
-
Yamaha FZ1
-
BMW R 1150 R/T
-
Triumph Sprint ST

I really don't think I can get myself to buy anything but a honda, but I am giving the others a fighting chance.

Does anyone here ride something similar ?

Few of my vintage bikes I enjoy riding:

I had an 02 sv650s. Daily rode it for 3 years. Finally want something safer but just as fun so I got a turbo'd miata. Once the miata is paid off a daytona 675 with ixill exhaust is mine. I really want the pearl white on blue le efition and then do a tron theme.
Even earned my stripes on the sv. 130 into a 90 left hander... Hit some gravel and it was done. I got a scrapped knee and some great pics!

What is the difference between a 'naked' bike, a 'street fighter' and a 'cafe racer'?

This pic I would have just called it a naked bike...

Street fighters I think of naked bikes with motor swaps and turbos for hooning...

Streetfighters are for hooning, or at least implying that the rider engages in hoonage. Engine swaps haven't been typical for several years, that was mostly done on early 90's GSXR's. Most of the time it's just a liter bike with no fairings (usually having been trashed while hooning) and big tall handle bars for easier wheelies. They're a bit like drift cars, in that some of them are really nicely set up, but most are just worn out, abused and missing body panels.

A 'naked' bike has a fairly relaxed, upright riding position a bit like that of a dirt bike. It is not extreme or aggressive in pretty much any way. A stock Street Triple is a naked bike with a bit of streetfighter mixed in.

A Cafe Racer is essentially a naked bike, but with clip on handlebars and raised foot pegs for a sporty/racing riding position like a sportbike. Mods for improved power and handling are common.

Purely by virtue of the foot pegs and handle bars the Street Triple pictured is a cafe racer (In the same way that too little offset and too much camber make a car "hellaflush").

I'm stoked for the 2012 MotoGP season to start here real soon. Last summer I was living just an hour and a half from Laguna Seca. I wanted to go see the races so bad but personal things kept me from going. Now I'm sad I didn't make it as it would have been a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm sure fans of the sport will understand. RIP Super Sic.

RIP Marco Simonceli A.K.A. Super Sic.
On the side note, I just lost my best friend who was a great rider a few days ago.

Wow, she looks brand new. Great catch for a 13 year old bike.

I'm a new rider and i have a 94 Yamaha Fzr600r which i picked up for $900 and i love this thing. I havent ridden as much as i like but with the repairs that i have to do this bike is good to learn about doing maintenance myself.
This summer i must ride at least 1500 miles.

Definitely one helluva rush, the first time i really twisted the throttle omfg that was just amazing!!!!! My take off are still a little shaky but my throttle feels kinda stick and stiff, it doesnt really snap back after i let go. I think ima just buy a new throttle cable since its an old bike. Sucks that the other week i finally got my new helmet and battery for my bike and i took it out for a ride. I stopped for a quick break to stretch my legs then something went wrong with my starter -_- luckily a friend lived nearby so i just walked my bike a couple of blocks and got my uncle to bring his truck to bring my bike back home.

For the future i will love to get into track days and possibly racing. I would love to get either an r6 or cbr600rr. But damn the daytona 675r, and ducati 748/848 are looking really sweet too!

I love motorcycles.

Really? Was it a salvaged bike? I didn't check, but seems like you got a bargain!
