OK. I am having an issue as well. Its the same as all the others, except my driver window will not roll up at all either. This happened after my car was broken into and the driver window was shattered. Any ideas?

I just called scion corporate about the various issues with my windows (freezing up completely, squeaking noises, strips of water appearing on the window in the same place every time after it rains, auto up down not working, etc. They basically said to just reset it every time and i told them i do but that's unacceptable and they said they're "investigating better solutions" and to ask the dealer to check the parts in the window assembly.

Just had to reset mine. As someone pointed out it's in the manual, however the steps given on the forum don't really match what's in the manual. If anything I read the manual as was left a bit confused. Oh well, now I know.

Auto Window issues
This happened to me also, followed the instructions on the owners manual to reset it. Also found this video on YouTube for a visual guide on how to do this process.

The problem is when the window freezes its natural to keep holding the button, that's decreasing the lifespan of the motor. The other issue is the seal is getting beat up.
There has so be some lubricant or seal conditioner that prevents the window from freezing stuck in the first place?

Window
I bought my FR-S in May of 2013. I have been having thisproblem since November. In early November, I opened the passenger door, thewindow dropped as normal, but didn’t go back up when I shut the door. I took itin and the guy said they just had to reset the CPU to fix it and that was that.No further issues. Last week, the window didn’t drop on the passenger dooragain when I opened it. When I attempted to roll it down, it went down, butthen wouldn’t come back up. Stuck open. I took it in and the guy said they ranit by Toyota and this is becoming a known issue. He said Toyota redesigned theinterior switch for the window and they recommended the dealership lube up thetracks for the window. The dealership installed the switch, lubed her up, and Ipicked up the car this morning. On the way to work, after giving the window ample time tothaw from this weekend’s snow and ice, I attempted to roll the passenger windowdown, and nothing. Wouldn’t budge at all. I opened the passenger door and thewindow didn’t drop. I closed the door, went back to the driver side and triedto roll it down again. The window went down, and then wouldn’t go back up. It’sagain stuck open. I’m currently waiting for a Toyota tech to arrive with myloaner car and take my FR-S back to the shop. (Update: I typed that all yesterday and haven't had a chance to post as I was awaiting approval to join this forum. The tech just called me this morning to tell me Toyota has order a special lube applicant that is supposed to keep the windows from freezing up. It's from an outside vendor and is untested as far as he was told so my car will now be a guinea pig for this. The lubricant won't be arriving for a few days so I'll be spending my next week in my 2013 Camry loaner which has paddle shifters for some reason.) Clearly Toyota is aware of this issue, and my belief is it’sonly a matter of time until a recall is put out. However, the current fixToyota thinks they have isn’t a fix at all. Just out of curiosity, is anyone aware of any BRZ’s withthis issue or is it afflicting only FR-S’s? |

Happens to both cars. Lubricating the window seal will definitely help, but that stuff dries out fast so make sure you get a supply of your own or you'll end up bringing it back on a regular basis.

Just a follow-up. Went to pick up my FR-S this morning with the newly applied third-party lubricant in full action. Tested the window with the service technician there watching. Window didn't work. They tell me their next step is to have a Toyota rep actually come to the service center and inspect the car. The technician told me this is the only FR-S they've sold having this issue. I told them there are many complaints about the exact same problem all over the internet.
Meanwhile, I continue to drive my paddle-shifter enabled Camry... |

Since I've been parking my car under a car cover this winter I haven't had this window issue. I did maybe once when parked outside the cover and another time last week after I had just washed the car and the temp dropped to sub-zero. Otherwise lately it's been sub-zero and I washed my car yesterday, but it dried in my warehouse for hours before I took off.
Just thought I'd share that I had this issue a bunch last winter before parking under a couple hundred dollar car port this winter. |

In other news my passenger side window froze again last night. Only took a few moments to successfully reset, but still...the fact they built this functionality into the switches suggests to me they did their cold weather testing and found this issue, but decided it wasn't worth the cost to fix it. |

The issue for the window is common. Some have already stated the easiest way to correct it by using the Master switch to raise and lower the window. If the lights on your master switch are flashing once you turn the car ignition to the "ON" position it can be easily corrected by holding the window switch down until the window is all the way down. Hold the switch down for 3 seconds when its all the way in at the bottom then raise the window with the switch and hold it for 3 seconds once the window is all the way up. The master switch will stop flashing and it will be corrected. The window does indeed get stuck in cold weather and doesn't properly automatically raise or lower causing the malfunction. I have had the same problem a few mornings.

The newest update is Toyota wants to give me my car back after showing me how to re-initialize the window myself for when the issue occurs. They say Toyota has engineers currently working on the problem and are potentially even considering redesigning the entire interior of the door. They tell me my car will be one of the first to receive any fixes they come up with (although I'm sure they're telling that to all the angry customers). |

I still occasionally look down at my window switches to check if they're blinking every time I hear a slight windy noise in my car... it's not a healthy paranoia. One shouldn't have to check to make sure their window is working correctly. They should just work correctly. It's 2014ish for crying out loud.
