Not sure if this effects the cost of Toyota cars in Australia.

G: 2.41 M Yen (about $31K)
GT: 2.79M Yen (about $35K) -> This is roughly an FR-S mono spec equivalent
GT Limited: 2.97M Yen (about $37K)
Ignoring the bare bones model track model (prolly wont be sold in aus)

Better way than direct currency comparison, is to compare relative car prices in both markets (ie. to account for us always getting jipped).

Civic type R: 3.00M Yen (Japanese RRP)
Civic type R: $39,990 AUD (Australia RRP)

Assuming the pricing difference is the same in Australia, then RRP would be about:

G: 2.41 M Yen => 39990x2.41/3 = $32,125 AUD
GT: 2.79M Yen => 39990x2.79/3 = $37,191 AUD
GT Limited: 2.97M => 39990x2.97/3 = $39,590 AUD

(RRP - before dealer charges)

I'm just guessing but I think...

G = Bare bones
GT = Base model
GT Limited = Luxury model (skirts and spoiler with leather trim)

No, G is base, GT is high spec, GT limited is GT with leather/suede and aero parts.

Bare bone is RC.

That did cross my mind but I thought Toyota is not going to touch the engine.
Hmm... maybe better suspensions and brakes for the GT?

Sorry So Sorry!

Well I have been fooling myself that the 86 was going to be the all round work/fun car for some time.

I have let the team and the forum down.

Just placed an order for a Honda Accord Euro it will be a great do all car.

Do not think i have totally given up .The wifes car is due to go in 18months so I will stay in touch and buy a 2 generation 86.

Way too much

Stripped-down GT version is actually around $45k
Road-going GTS version is actually around $50k or more

I signed a contract to buy one on 30 July, 2011 when it was touted around $35k and I always thought it would be a few grand more, but $50k is ridiculous. I'm now cancelling my order! FU Toyota - I'm off to buy a BRZ which will arrive sooner anyway.
