I remember that a few car mags did comparos between cars and bikes in the past. Obviuosly, cars have better traction and able to handle better, but the bikes had an advange on certain tracks and, of course, bikes have better acceleration than cars up to a certain point. In the end though, most sports cars, given enough ground, would catch most bikes. Even the most powerful ones. Due to the incredible power to weight ratios on most, if not all, bikes bikes have the advantage in acceleration, but bikes can handle only so much power because after awhile it just can't put the power down.

Yup, with comparable power, bikes will leave cars in the dust from the start to about 125mph. However, it's not the point of riding a bike. Kneedrag FTW.

Yes. Bill Warner, 311.94 mph on what is still recognizably a motorcycle.

Sure it is... If you consider $160,000 "within reach" and 1000hp "relatively powerful".

PS: No one else is even close to matching that speed with a sit-on motorcycle. Seriously, that bike is in a different f'ing league. 300 mph is no joke, no matter what you are trying to get there in.

Gonna need a lot of power to overcome drag just to hit 300 mph even on a bike.
I want to go to the track dammit snow, dammit...

He could've added spoilers in front of the tires to cut drag in an easier way though! But...
Okay I'll shut up

His bike is also an 09'. He's thinking of getting the Triumph Scrambler though.
No worries, there is so much different terminology for bikes. I've only heard "racing bars" for mtn and ol skool bmx bikes.

Nice choice with a Scrambler!! Does he plan to turn it into a Cafe racer?

With the downed economy, I've seen a lot of good deals on motos. Unfortunately, a few local motorcycle dealerships closed and one major motorcycle racing club shut down (WSMC).

That's one thing I've never understood is the whole car vs motorcycle comparisons. They are 2 completely different variables and will never have an even matchup. There is a lot more involvement to not only ride a moto but to ride a moto fast.

Forget about drag! It's a challenge not to get airborne at those speeds. LOL

How do people feel about cruiser bikes? I was looking at a Honda shadow spirit and I'm thinking of picking one up just for commuting.
